Car description |
---|
I have owned this car since the 90s and only selling it as I just don't drive it. I am also selling my 71 Roadrunner and 70 Chevelle (have now sold both of them).
I had it painted my a local well known superior painter almost 20 years ago and I got what I paid for, it still looks amazing and turns heads wherever it goes....and it goes.Very nice all metal body with good frame.I used to drive it to Canada pretty regularly and I have never put it in a show. It was made to drive and that was with the original 350 2bbl and 2 speed which is included and or available at a price reduction.
The current rare 69 428 w 18 Casting heads engine was built by Kaufann racing here in Ohio at an expense of about $10k. I used only American parts in the build including custom DSS pistons and Crower Rods. It was overbuilt. It has less than 500 miles on it. Stock distributor w rev limiter pertonix. Stock quadrajet built by Cliff at great expense, Ram air IV Manifolds.
Dyno done at time of build w sheet supplied: 480 ft/lb @ 3400 ; 375 HP @ 4800 ...a little better than a ram air IV
Same low mileage on Pypes dual crossover exhaust.
Same mileage with the rebuilt turbo 350 done by a local guru.
Same mileage with the Gear Vendors Overdrive unit (makes the 3 speed auto into a 5 speed Auto. Read up on them if you aren't familiar. I did this as they are reliable and leave the stock console and shifter in place. It will run about 2250 rpm @ 70 mph. Cost of a G.V.O. unit is about $3000
Same mileage on the 12 bolt donated from a 442 (not the weird Olds rear but the same desirable12 bolt a Chevelle has w the correct Pontiac bolt pattern) and rebuilt with American made Timken bearings, USA Ring and Pinion 3.31 gears and Eaton Tru Trac
The staggered smokey chrome American Racing wheels are also new along with the Michelin Z rated Pilot Super Sports tires...no cheap foreign black round things.
The top is in nice shape but rarely put up.
Front seat covers are new but weren't really needed. The original ones were just tired. Rear seat is original and in great shape.
The color is chrome yellow with premium clear. It is still show quality but driver used.
It has a clean dash with tach. The odometer on this car broke at about 30 some k miles the first time around and I never wanted to fix it. The speedometer works fine and the lack of seeing mileage accrue is sort of like golfing without keeping score. It is just fun
I thought to clone this as people do but I prefer the chrome bumpers instead on Enduro plastic. She is a sweetheart and a bit overbuilt beyond a stock ram air 3 or 4 GTO since it has the 428, overdive and 12 bolt. No offence intended. I love hideaway headlights and appreciate all things cared for and original but you just can't modify a numbers matching car even for betterment. This being a LeMans it seems less sacrilegious to improve upon beyond what the factory ever did while maintaining a stock look.
I will sell for $25k with the original 350 2bbl and 2 speed installed.
Thank you,
Rudy
