HISTORY: This One Owner 1979 Silver Anniversary Trans Am was purchased new from Beaman Pontiac in Nashville, TN on May 02, 1979 by Mr Byrum of Brentwood, TN. He owned a 1978 Trans Am but fell in love with the '79 Silver Anniversary car, so he made the trade. He drove the car sparingly 66k and only modified it with a new, top of the line, Jensen AM/FM 8-track radio and speakers. In 1988, due to the sub-standard paint quality of the 1970's, Mr Byrum had the car repainted and reapplied all new GM decals. After years of enjoyment, in 1991 he decided to cover and park the car. There the car sat until the Byrum's sold their house in 2019. Unfortunately there were no amenities to store the car at their new home. The time had come to sell his treasured Anniversary Car. Luckily, in May of 2019, Mr Byrum was given my number and I, being a Trans Am enthusiast, didn't hesitate to purchase this one owner Silver Anniversary T/A. I was given all the original paperwork and most of the service history. This includes the original bill of sale, warranty information, silver anniversary binder, and owners manual.
EXTERIOR: As previously noted, there has been only one repaint in 1988 due to sun fade of the original paint. This car has never been in an accident and has had no body or rust repairs. All original glass including windshield. All glass is clean and crystal clear! Even now there is no rust or body damage other than the hood needing repair or replacement due to rust bubbles. Front/rear bumpers and spoilers are in great shape. Underside of car is solid. Many of the suspension decals are still in place. This car is in such good shape it won't take much to get her ready for paint!
INTERIOR: All Silver Anniversary T/A's come fully loaded with all available options, including the Silver Anniversary Only interior. The interior of this car is all original with the exception of the installation of a Jensen AM/FM 8-track radio and speakers. Power antenna works, all of the gauges work. Tilt wheel column is tight. The shifter drops in drive correctly without the common issues of a sloppy transition. Door panels are very nice. Dash pad has one crack. Steering wheel is dry, the leather dried up on the seat covers and need to be replaced. Original carpet is in excellent shape with absolutely no wear. (You cannot purchase reproduced carpet for these cars. The shape of this carpet is outstanding and a rare see!) All courtesy lights work correctly. Dash controls seem to work properly including blower motor control. Not much more than seat covers and headliner to get her interior beauty back.
TRUNK AND JUNK: The trunk has the original carpet, spare, jack, and canister that has never been removed. Trunk jamb and underside of trunk lid are in excellent shape. Courtesy light works. The only rust through in the actual body is in the rear section of the trunk floor. Mr Byrum stored something that leaked and caused the rust. This is a small section that can easily be repaired without replacing the entire trunk floor.
DRIVE TRAIN: This car has the original 403ci with automatic transmission and 10 bolt posi-traction rear end. WS6 suspension which includes rear disk brakes. Everything under the hood is original except for the carburetor I install to get her running. (Nothing on the engine was modified or damaged during the installation of the carburetor.) All original parts that I removed are boxed and go with the car. She starts, runs, and lot drives. The brakes are weak but work. This car has not been driven on the road since 1991 and needs a bumper to bumper service/inspection so she will need to be hauled or trailered.
SALES PITCH: Here is a RARE opportunity Silver Anniversary Trans Am. There were only 5,683 made in 1979! Even more rare is to have all the documentation and complete history told by the original owner. After a full service, new tires, and brake check this car can be driven as is! Don't let this beauty get away! (If your bidder feedback score is below a 10 contact me before bidding. I will retract your bid!) No reserve auction! Yes, that's right no reserve!
