Car description |
---|
It's a great life, Pontiac 2+2 style.
The 1966 2+2 from Pontiac.....
The wonderful Wide-Track way to go from place to place.
Now in its 3rd year, this limited edition, personal performance car has all the get-up-and-go you'd expect when Pontiac, goes al out - plus all the room, comfort and appointments of a luxury passenger car.
The standard 4-barrel carburetor 421-cubic inch V-8 -topped off with chrome rocker covers and low restriction air cleaner- delivers 338 bhp. And it drives a fully-synchronized, floor mounted, heavy-duty three speed transmission with Hurst shifter.
Special springs and shocks and high performance axle ratio are standard, as well as the dashing pin striping shows off the long, low lines of this Convertible.
Inside, door-to-door loop pile nylon blend carpeting and sleek, new bucket seats sweep you up with that GO-GO-GO SPIRIT.
Just being in the 2+2 makes you forget the hum-drum, run-of -the-road-type transportation.
If this sound like your kind of car.....

"Luxury tailored to your good tasteâ€
"NEW BLACK TOP GRADE UPHOLSTORY, the material was hand picked by me personally.â€
The seats were removed and re-upholstered, extraordinary care was exercised to achieve perfect workmanship with every meticulous stitch."
When I found her, she was sitting under a cover sleeping inside a garage in Laguna Beach California.
As I looked her over, I knew she was solid as solid could get. Her bones are what you would expect growing up in California.
Her body needed very little work.
Here were the steps:
**. **
Prior to paint, her chrome trim was all removed re-chromed and professionally hand polished.
1. She was taken down to the metal (by hand) NOT by sand blasting. I was amazed at how perfect she was under that faded paint. She spent well over 60 days in paint and body. "No need to rush perfection".
2. Then we began by degreasing the metal to remove contaminants left over from the stripping process. The metal is then treated and coated with zinc for superior corrosion resistance and better adhesion of the subsequent paint layers.
3. Primer was the first layer of paint. It is formulated to fill tiny scratches and imperfections in the body and give the subsequent color coats something to adhere to. Unlike the drab gray primer of yesteryear, we used colored primer to hide future damage from rock or stone chips.
4. The base coat, or color layer, was the next in the process. In the past, this was the final layer of paint, which was directly exposed to the environment. We then applied clearcoat paint over the final color layer. (Clearcoat is a layer of paint without color pigment added-it is simply clear paint. The clearcoat adds high gloss while protecting the colored basecoat from scratching, chipping, and the effects of the environment.)
Finally....Her paint is thick and smooth as you can see in the photos.
*****During paint and body here are the notes about the chrome trim interior & exterior.
