Car description

Up for auction here is my '64 Pontiac Bonneville safari wagon. I bought this from a guy who saved it from a wrecking yard. It's in really good shape with a few dents here and there, but what mostly sets it apart is that it is totally rust-free desert car (I've never found even a pinhole of rust) The original interior is completely sun-beat from 50-something years of exposure, but....original is original. There is no carpet, just bare metal, which is beautiful. The engine is the higher performance 389 with its original AFB Carter 4-barrel. It runs great and doesn't seem to burn any oil or smoke. I installed all new dual glasspack exhaust system to the rear bumpers (the 18-inch head pipes near the manifolds are original). Gas gauge works. Heater is bypassed. Speedo works great and doesn't jump all around. Amp gauge works, clock doesn't. Heater fan works. Bumpers are very straight and nearly perfect.
I also just installed a freshly rebuilt Lares quick ratio steering gearbox. Just installed a new timing chain and water pump. Just installed an NOS radiator from the 80's; it is brass, not aluminum. All windows roll up and down. Rear window goes up and down from dash only. This is NOT a 3-seat car! I also installed the correct NOS (wagon-only) taillight lenses, and front parking light lenses. The rear reverse light lenses are reproduction and new. I also had Gen-Star in Arizona rebuild the wagon's alternator with new diodes/bearings. Fuel tank was removed when I bought the car, but was spotless when I went to clean it out. No rust and the fuel gauge works fine. Before I forget, let me also say that the chrome and stainless on this car is beautiful! No pitting and only a few very minor blemishes on the stainless. Untouched from '64!
I also serviced the stock super hydramatic with a new filter and fluid. It leaks a small amount, but shifts, although a little slow going into 3rd, which I believe they are known for. All brake components have been replaced, except the brake fluid hard lines. Rubber hoses are new. New wheel bearings at the front and new brake drums at the rear. And finally, the BG Rodworks Old School 20 X 8.5 wheels and tires. They are less than a year old and do NOT rub at all!
I think I have covered most of the condition of the car. Keep in mind, there ARE some dents in this car, and a side-swipe on the driver's side. Look closely at the pics. I've loved this car and hate to part with it, but it's time to let go of a few of mine. I think the starting price is very fair for a straight, original safari. There are absolutely no warranties implied or expressed, and please feel free to ask any/all questions or request more pics. Good luck!
