1946 Pontiac Torpedo Eight Business Coupe -2 Door Sedan, Style 2511 - 2711"CUSTOM STREET ROD"
Rebuilt SBC 350 Engine and Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission. The engine was rebuilt by a popular local business; Booth-Arons in Berkley,MI.
Pontiac has always been considered the sporty division of GM. Founded in 1926, Pontiac cars have long been sought after for their performance - and the 1946 cars are no exception. Before they were phased out; Pontiac still understood that some consumers want their daily vehicle to be capable of providing a thrilling driving experience.
I bought it from an older retired GM Engineer thatstarted out 15 years ago on a clean stock car. He was a retired GM Engineer. He is a very bright man that really knows his stuff . He started on his retirement project and has gotten it this far; This 1946 Pontiac Torpedo Eight Business Coupe is fitted on a 1987 Monte Carlo Frame/Chassis, and the brakes that had been completely rebuilt. The 1987 Monte Carlo donor car supplied the instrument panel, Shifter, and Axle. The fenders are welded to the body and filled clean withUSC All Metal. She was very straight to begin with so we decided to have her painted. We recently had her painted in Hot Rod Smoke and it cost us over $7000 but it was worth it and now she is really cool. All of the interior trim including the dash was also painted in Hot Rod Smoke. We didn't start out building a Rat Rod and I would't say that it is a Rat Rod but more of a really cool street rod.
Original Mohairinterior is included and in decent shape.
She has shaved Door and Trunk Handles where electronic switches to open the doors and trunk. The Pontiac Trim on Hood has been Removed/Filled. Doors and Trunk Wired for Power Latches and Windows. Frenched Headlight and Tail Light Buckets. No Need for the original Bumpers; she has has steel pipe welded in behind the panels to act as an IntegralBumper. The templates have been created for the side glass. She Runs and Drives Great.
Bid with confidence; she is an easy completion with all of the hard stuff done. The reserve is below what we have into her.
This vehicle is being sold as is whereas no warranties apply or are implied.
