Car description |

Up for sale is my 1980 Turbo Trans Am. I've owned this car for quite awhile, since purchasing here on eBay. It was in terrible shape when I got it, and I didn't know if I was even doing the right thing by trying to save it. But, I had always wanted a TTA since high school, so I set about the process of making it awesome again. While not a frame off (well, body off since this is a sub-frame car), I did strip it down, inside and out, refurbishing or replacing nearly everything along the way. This car has a new suspension underneath it, new brakes, rebuilt transmission, rebuilt turbo charger, new exhaust, new radiator, new gas tank, new interior, and the list goes on and on. My only problem with it is that I don't drive it, and it just sits in the dark. I think it's time for me to part ways with it, and let someone else appreciate this rare classic. Selling this as a No-Reserve Auction, so if the minimum bid is met, she will belong to a new owner.
The car is documented through the Pontiac Historical Society, and does come with that. I've included a picture of the reproduction of the original window sticker. It was originally sold through Penny Pontiac in Harrington, IL in April, 1980. It is not a Y84 car (not a Special Edition SE car). I did put a SE dash bezel into it, because I liked the look of that over the original silver bezel. It did not come originally equipped with the turbo lights on the hood scoop. I added those later, using donor parts from another 1980 TTA. The dash and console were refurbished by Just Dashes in California. Paint was done by a local paint shop in Vassar, MI. Graphics are Phoenix Graphics and were applied by another local shop in Freeland, MI.
Car runs and drives, stops and goes, goes and stops, just like you would expect it to. There is a brand new AC compressor on it, but has not been charged, so the AC isn't currently working. Because these cars are long in the front, and carry a lot of load, I replaced the front springs with heavy-duty springs. This caused the stance to be somewhat not of my liking, with the nose slightly higher than the rear. To correct that, it has 1" lifting shackles in the rear. The OEM-style shackles are included, so it can be put back to original, if so desired. It also comes with a bunch of other parts, including another complete turbocharger and intake manifold, a carburetor (rebuilt by Carb Junkies, but with the wrong jets, so runs too lean with it), brake components, dash components, an engine harness, and more. Well over $1000 worth of parts alone!
The car is currently insured, but has never been plated as long as I've owned it. That said, it can be test-driven, if you want to come and check it out in person, or have your mechanic look it over. It is in great condition mechanically and electrically. There is one ding in the paint where I bumped it a few years ago. She needs a cleaning an detail from long-time storage. I do manage to take it out about twice a year to make sure things are still working properly.
If you are in Michigan, I can deliver the car to you, once your payment has cleared, for a small fee to cover my fuel costs. If you are outside of Michigan, I can assist with getting it onto the transport and on its way to you.
$500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction ending. Full payment is required within 7 days. I can accept wire transfer, or personal check, but the car will not leave the premises until that check has cleared my bank. Of course, cash is always accepted too!
