Car description

I am selling my 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible. This car is the real deal, a true "242" VIN Pontiac GTO, not some Tempest / LeMans clone.
The GTO is a factory polar white car with red interior. Great color combination. The previous owner provided me with a PHS document that reflects the car originally came from the factory with air conditioning, power windows, 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes (disc-front), and Safe-T-Track rear end.
The odometer reads 47,776 and it may go up as I am driving the car with the warmer weather finally here. I can't confirm that the car has or has not exceeded the mechanical limits of the odometer. It would be safe to assume that it turned over during the life of the car.
The GTO no longer has the air conditioning or the 4-speed transmission installed.
Following is information that the previous owner provided me when I purchased the vehicle:
The GTO now has a Pontiac 461 cubic inch stroker engine with a built Turbo 350 automatic transmission with shift kit and mild stall torque converter.
Details on the engine include:
  • Non-original motor - 400 block with stroker crankshaft making 461 cubic inches
  • MSD Atomic Electronic Fuel Injection system
  • Eagle cast steel 4.25" stroke crankshaft
  • Forged I-beam connecting rods
  • Mahle forged pistons
  • Pontiac #64 heads (1970 455 HO heads)
  • Camshaft with 224/230 duration at .050" with .470 lift on 110 degree LSA
  • Pertronix Flamethrower HEI distributor
  • 8mm plug wires
  • Pro Comp intakemanifold
  • Headers with Flowmaster mufflers

The GTO has asemi-lopeyidle, sounds nasty and runs hard.
The suspension has been upgraded withHotchkiss performance sway bars.
The car rides on 14" Pontiac Rally II wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
Posi 3:55 rear end.
Aluminum radiator with dual electric fans.
Some chrome dress-up pieces under the hood.
The interior is decent with no rips in the seats. The power convertible top is in nice condition with no rips and has a glass back window. The carpet is newer andalso in nice condition.
Things I feel need to be done to the car include replacing the steering column with one that has an integrated ignition switch and installing new door and trunk key / lock mechanisms. Sometime in the past, the original steering column was swapped out for a different steering column that does not have an integrated ignition switch. A push button starter switch was installed in the dash. It works just fine, however I prefer the traditional key & ignitionswitchset up.
The paint isdriverquality with decent shine but there are chips and a few scratchesaround the car.
The GTO is not a show car, rather it is a driver with some flawstypical of an old car that has been and continues to be driven and enjoyed. The GTO would be an excellent candidate for a full restoration at some point due to the rarity of the car, but can be enjoyed in its current condition as I have.
The reserve is set at areasonable amount based on what the car is. I intend to sell the vehicle outright and I am not interested in any trades of any kind.
I own the vehicle free and clear and have the Iowa issued title to the GTO in my name. The car can be inspected anytime before the auction ends. Winning the auction does not mean come check it out and then decide whetherour not to buy it.Do any inspections you feel are necessary before bidding on the car. Have your finances in order along with permission to buy it from any significant others in your life who have an interest in how you conduct your finances.I can be available to assist with loading the car if you choose to have it transported provided I am given adequate notice. All transportation costs are the responsibility ofthe buyer.
The car does not leave until paid for and all funds clear my bank. I will accept cash, wire transfer, or a cashier check from one of the major banks such as Wells Fargo, Bank of America, US Bank.
Please ask any questions you haveabout the car and I will do my best to get back with you in a timely manner.
Due to the age of the car, it is being soldwithout anyexpressed or implied warranty.
Please only bid if you intend to follow throughwiththe purchase. I am only selling the car to help my son with flightschool tuition and don't have time to spend dealing with people whohave no intention of honoring their bid.
Ireservethe right to end the auction early as I have the car advertised locally as well.
Thank you for looking and good luck to all who bid.
