I figured I'd answer some of the questions I received....
1. What type of exhaust is on the car? A. The original exhaust, including mufflers, and hangars...it left the factory with in late 1969. Yes, the original buck riveted scrap inner tube exhaust hangars are still in tact...no, there are no exhaust leaks.
2.This car is so original, why on earth would you detail the engine? A.Personal preference...I like reliable...and respectable when I pop the hood.
3. Why is the trans VIN stamp upside down? A: They were all like that...to go a step further the date code decodes to (P) Muncie, IN (0) 1970 Model Year (M) August (18) 18th day of August 1969 (A) M20
4. What will you take for the car? I'd have to put 10-20K into restoring it. A. This car isn't for you, and you may need to rethink what you want out of a car.
5. Whats all that yellow goop on the bottom of the floor pans? Floor pans appear rusty! A. The yellow goop is simply a lubricant, called Fluid Film...sprays right off. Makes the floors look lumpy or even crusty...but they are not. As far as rust goes...the factory commonly left bare metal spots on the floor pans, most of the frames were never even painted, half painted, etc. There is some flash rust in various spots on the bare metal sections of the floor pans...but 5 minutes and a scotch bright pad would remove it...I like original...so I just fluid film it.
6.Can I drive it home to Texas? A.Sure, if you felt like it, you could. Myself personally, I'd just ship it.
7.That car has 167,000 miles on it I bet...prove the miles are original! A. Well, you just put your foot in your mouth. This car spent its' entire life in Virginia, and every year it has to get a State Police Safety Inspection...which states the miles. I have all of them...the miles are accurate.
8.What makes this car so special? A. It's a very low production car, in some of the best colors, in a 4 speed...with the most desirable "go fast" options...very low documented miles...in remarkable unrestored condition...with loads of documentation.
9. I got a loan through JJ Best....A. Stop right there...you should buy from a Dealer...or buy it outright...and sell it to your wife...then get a loan out on it...I hate dealing with those finance companies.
10. I got cash money...$100 bills...what will you take? A. As much as I don't enjoy paying my taxes...I paid top dollar for this car...and wouldn't care if it were cash, or a wire transfer...all the same to me.
11. As far as price goes...what would the selling price be on the title? A. Illinois titles do not have a provision for price...the bill of sale will include my name and yours...what you put for a price is your business, my obligation stops there. As a gift...I'll give you the pen I signed the bill of sale with...
12. Can I send a Inspector out to see the car? A. Absolutely, I encourage it! before you place your bid. I can also put you in touch with some Senior Pontiac Judges that know the car...I'm also happy to take your Inspector for a ride in the car.
13. Are you some kind of expert on these cars? A. I make no claims of being a expert...but...I'd like to think I'm very knowledgable.
14. Do you want to trade for my Harley, boat, and wife? A. I've got all 3, they are all expensive to maintain and always have issues...so no trades at this time.
15. Can I have it shipped to CA and pay the truck when it gets here? A. Life don't work that way...I expect prompt payment...then your truck can take it to CA.
16. Whats not original to the car...A. tires, air in the tires, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, pitman arm, shocks, air filter, oil filter, points, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, battery, timing chain and gears, various gaskets and seals, battery, battery cable ends, belts, hoses, paint on the endura bumper, and various light lacquer blending. wiper blades, dash pad, gas tank, antenna, convertible top rear window, I'm sure a few other small items...

I received a question today regarding paint on the door latch, trunk latch, and underside showing red "overspray". Well, I guess I should enlighten some people. When these bodies were painted at the Fisher Body Plant, they were painted with the doors and trunk lid mounted. So, the door and trunk latch "should" be painted red. Moreover, the bottom of the car (including the firewall) was actually painted some body color. Then, the firewalls, and bottom of the car would have been quickly sprayed with 40% semi gloss black paint, so you ended up with body color, semi gloss black and bare metal on the firewalls and undersides of these cars. Moreover, the trunk latch would be body color at the top, and then a "mishmash" of body color and black/aqua spatter paint, so this is technically correct. Too many people see improperly restored cars and think they are correct, when in fact, they are not.

"All door fasteners painted body color as part of factory assembly on 1968 and later models. Strikers, latches, and fasteners natural finish on 1967 and earlier models."

"Exterior paint color overspray on floor pans is acceptable."
