Car description

Show and go. This car is ready to do both. And it will probably need that big 'ol trunk in order to carry all the trophies it will gather up along the way. This car still has its original engine and has been restored right with a binder full of paperwork documenting the job, as well as several GTO restoration guide books that were used as reference along the way. If you have been looking for a well-done GTO, you're...done looking. Check it out. First impressions as you approach this car are stunning. There is an aggressive rake to the chassis. Before you even get close enough to see the details clearly, you can tell that the body panels line up nicely and it all looks tight and right. The chrome all looks like new as does the polished stainless around the windows. Mayfair Maize paint is the factory original color and as you get closer, you can tell it's near perfect. The view from the front is awesome. That big yellow hood with the double scoop flows down to the split grill between those classic vertical quad headlights with a GTO badge on the right. Down the side you can see the proper GTO badging on the front and rear fenders. At the rear, Horizontal lines of chrome dressing the taillights and the panel between them give a super clean look to the back of the car, and there is more correct Pontiac and GTO badging. Open the door and you will immediately see that the fit and finish of the interior is just as outstanding as the outside of the car. Like the paint, it is the factory correct Black that the car was delivered in new. The door panel has a GTO badge at the top front with chrome piping across the top and bottom. The seats have new foam and springs under the original seat covers adorned in diagonal pleats complete with the Pontiac Arrow embossed into them. Nice. A two-spoke steering wheel with a half round horn ring has a Sun SuperTach mounted to the column just behind it. The dash is super clean with stock gauges mounted in a wood grain panel and control knobs mounted in a chrome trim panel below it. The Hurst shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission falls easily to hand and just begs to be stirred around. A trio of auxiliary Stewart Warner gauges as well as a Pontiac manifold vacuum gauge are mounted under the dash to keep accurate tabs on those critical engine functions. Pop the hood up and you will find that precious, original 389 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It's a rare treat to see those three Rochester carbs, and this Tri-power setup is polished up and tuned up real nice. The chrome tops to their air filters is complimented by a set of chrome valve covers adding their splash of flash to the engine. The rest of the engine iron is painted the correct Pontiac Blue and of-course all the belts, hoses and ignition components are all new. Also new is a complete wiring harness with a laminated diagram included in the documentation. Power flows back through the 4-speed transmission to the rear axle located by trailing arms and sitting on coil springs. The suspension both front and rear is tight and right with sway bars at both ends helping this car handle nicely too. The rubber meets the road through 215/70R15 Red Line tires mounted on silver steel wheels with polished trim rings and center caps. This is a first class restoration of a numbers matching car. There is a pile of documentation that goes with it, and a pile of smiles it will generate when you take it out and about.
