We are extremely proud to present this incredible 1965 GTO convertible fully documented and restored about 25 years ago and still in outstanding condition. The original owner was a NASA engineer who had ridden in a friends 1965 LeMans convertible. He liked the ride so much, and the plain, non cluttered look of it, that he immediately put in an order for a 1965 Pontiac LeMans with theGTO package because he wanted the 4bbl carb and the 389 Trophy V-8 engine engine like in his previously owned Grand Prix.

Original window sticker and dealer invoice.

Lee received the car on July 13,1965 and still owned the car on the day he passed away in 2016.

We have so much documentation on this car it's amazing. Protect-O-Plate, Original window sticker, owner's manual. shop manual, invoices of all work done during restoration 25 years ago, and much more.

In a 2004 issue of The Legend, GTO Association of America, there is a great article written by the original owner Lee Bogema, about the history of the car. We have that article, and it is extremelyinformative.

The interior was completely redone in 1993 during therestoration. The original Capri Gold vinyl was purchased by the shop "Auto Stitch", and the interior was cut and sewn to original.

The original factory air is working well. It is currently not blowing from this center vent. We will check that before the car is sold.

The owner did mention in his article, that the car had logged a total of 200,738 miles to 2004 and the odometer read 738. Therefore since he was not driving it very much any more, it is likely that the odometer is actually showing 203,714. He did have the engine rebuilt as well as the transmission at 136,038 miles, and replaced the timing chain back when the car had 119,000 miles. The engine was also rebuilt again in 2008.

Since the car was ordered late in 1965 it has a few parts that were common to the 1966 models. One of those items is the distributor, which is numbered 1111078 instead of number 111054.

The Protect-O-Plate matches this engine code.

The original engine was rebuilt at 136,038 miles. The owner felt that it wasn't necessary to rebuild it again during the restoration. He does however have an entry in his log book dated 8/28/2008 which says The engine was rebuilt again along with the transmission. The front end and brake system was also rebuilt at the same time.

The current owner decided to change the wheels to the optional factory steel wheels, with the original red line tires.

This was the way the original owner ordered the car. We do still have the factory hub caps.

Below are just a few of the many documents that accompany the car.

This is the 2004 issue of The Legend in which Lee wrote the article about the history of his car.

The paint is still outstanding on this 25 year old restoration.

This is your opportunityto own a true collector car. It has such great history and is still a pleasure to drive. We are sure that Lee would love to know the car went to a new owner that would love the car for what it is, a true piece of our great American car history.
