Car description |

This week Canyon State Classics presents a beautiful 1977 Pontiac Safari wagon in great condition inside and out. This car was bought new at Taylor Pontiac in Redding, CA and lived most of its life in Northern California as evidenced by some cool travel stickers such as the one from Mt Shasta on the front bumper! The car made its way down here with a student attending Arizona State on a Hockey scholarship and made a great college vehicle for tail gating and hauling hockey gear. He owned it for years before selling it to a good friend and they don't have the space to store it any longer. Its time to find Big Red a new home!
This wagon is fully loaded and in excellent condition with just over 60,000 original miles. Don't miss your chance to own a true time capsule...bid now!
The following is a list of options as this Pontiac is currently equipped:
-6.6L V8 Engine
-Automatic Transmission w/ Overdrive
-Power Door Locks
-Power Tailgate Window
-Optional Fold or Swing Tailgate
-Cruise Control
-Ice Cold Air Conditioning
-Am/Fm Radio w/ 8-Track Cassette
-White Wall Tires
The exterior on this car is straight as an arrow and totally solid. The paint on the car is finished in gorgeous original color of Firethorn Red Metallic and was very popular in the 70s. This car is a totally solid, rust free car, and obviously never saw snow or salt. The underside of the rockers, quarters, fenders, and floor boards are solid as a rock, and the wheel wells look so clean, just the way a low mileage car should. The chrome is all as nice as the day it left the Pontiac dealer. Another nice thing about this car is the gorgeous, original interior and trim. I like the look and think it gives the car a clean, classy look. All of the glass is original and the windshield is crack-free.
The car rides on four 15" Kumho whitewall tires which still have plenty of tread. The car also still retains its correct wheels and center caps which gives the car a very nice look.
The interior is all original and in very good condition. The original leather seats are extremely soft and supple and look like new. Door panels Dash, and carpet are all original and in perfect condition. The odometer currently shows only 61,000mi, which is stated to be Actual miles by the Arizona title. The gas and brake pedal show no wear. The seats are in excellent condition with almost no ware. The climate control is working correctly and the A/C blows ICE COLD.
The cargo area interior is like new condition and has all of the original plastics and original hideaway cargo hold looks very nice. The space saver spare is also still aboard as well as the jack and all original tools.
Mechanically, this Safari runs GREAT! This car features the 6.6L 403ci V8 (Built by Oldsmobile). The is the same big motor that was powering the Trans Am 6.6L Cars! It was factory rated at 185hp but GM was under-reporting horsepower at the time due to EPA Regulations. This big pony gets up and gallops! This car always starts right up and shifts so smooth it is difficult to feel the transition between gears. As I said before this car has just been gone through at 60,000 miles by a local mechanic prior to being put for sale, and had fluids drained, tuned up, belts and hoses checked, battery checked and the transmission and A/C serviced to make this car 100% roadworthy. Under the hood is very clean and all original. Even all the original yellow stamps are in place to show that there has been to tampering or re-paints. There is also original chalk marks visible in several locations. The car tracks straight and rides and drives just like a new Pontiac should! Oh Wait....You cant buy them anymore!!
All in all, this is one of the nicest and most original Safari wagons left in existence. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners.
These early 70's era vehicles are becoming more and more collectible as the older ones disappear into collections, especially well maintained, super low mileage, cars like this. This Pontiac is the kind of condition you can enjoy every day or save it as an investment because with the kind of condition it is and its classic body lines, it is now and will forever be a classic. This car has a clean Arizona Title. Any further questions please call Jon at 480-703-2337.
