Car description |

Here's your chance to own one of the finest 66 GTO hardtops in the country! This is the first time this car has ever been offered for sale since it's restoration.
This car is a certified Gold GTOAA Best of Show winner. It was also achieved the coveted POCI Senior Gold Award. This car has been featured in the national publication High Performance Pontiac in December 2006 and a GTO coffee table book called "Pontiac's Great One". This car features many NOS and mint used parts. Very little reproduction parts were used in the restoration.
The car started life as a basically rust free, original engine, numbers matching, great condition California car.
The car was sold new through the famed A.E. England Pontiac dealer in Hollywood, CA. This dealer was located right on Hollywood's walk of fame on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Argyle. This dealership was frequented by Hollywood's finest and who knows, this car could have been ordered new by some hot new star or movie producer!
The car was ordered perfectly from the factory with the following PHS documented options and colors:
Montero Red - Code R
Black Interior - Code 223
3/2 Bbl. Tri Power 360 HP engine
4 speed M20 Transmission
Push Button AM radio
Sepra Phonic Rear Seat Speaker
Door Edge Guards
Day Nite Mirror
Lamp - Luggage
Lamp - Glove Box
Lamp - Parking Brake
Lamp - Under hood
Rally Tach and Gauge Cluster
Custom Sport Wood Wheel
Metallic Brake Linings
Stripe Delete
Hazard - Warning Flasher
Custom Sport Walnut Shift Knob
Tinted Soft - Ray Glass All windows
Air Injection Exhaust Control - AIR CA emissions
Positive Crankcase Ventilation - PCV CA emissions
Ride & Handling - Special Springs and Shocks
Saf-T-Track 3:55 Differential
The car was originally equipped with black steel wheels with poverty caps but during the restoration the owner oped to install original Rally 1 Wheels.
This car received a meticulous frame off rotisserie restoration in 2003-2004
The car was completely disassembled, media blasted inside and out and epoxy primed.
All of the necessary metal work was performed using custom made patch panels butt welded in. All of the panels are original to the car with the exception of the hood.
The frame was primed and blocked removing all pits and surface imperfections. Then was painted in a correct 70% gloss urethane and all suspension parts were rebuilt, detailed and installed using all correct and original fasteners.
The body then installed back on the frame and all the body panels were fitted to the car to insure perfect gaps all around. The minimal bodywork was then performed then followed by 3 coats of urethane 2K primer. The primer was blocked sanded to perfection and spot primed as necessary. After the body was laser straight and perfect 4 coats of PPG code R Montero Red was applied along with 4 coats of high solids Urethane Clear.
The clear was blocked with 600 twice to insure a perfectly flat ripple and orange peel free surface. All the panels were then sanded with 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit papers. The finish on the car is now almost 15 years old but it still looks perfect.
The engine and drive train components were all fully rebuilt. The engine is the original born with and has the extremely rare WV code (Tri Power, Manual Trans AIR .) Only 1,541 66 GTOs were built with this engine.
The interior is restored with new seat covers, seat buns, ACC carpet and headliner. The dash bezel is the original re chromed and the gauge package is the mint original from the car. 4 way hazard flasher is NOS
The car has never been regularly driven since the restoration but it is 100% reliable and road worthy. It is stored in a dust free climate controlled environment.
