Monkees Monkeemobile 1967 Pontiac GTO Tribute Car Built by Dean Jeffries Signed
I am pleased to offer this incredible Monkeemobile tribute car. This is not a clone or a recreation but a tribute car since it was built for the 45th anniversary tour and was built under the supervision of the original designer Dean Jeffries. The details and dimensions are right on and the car is signed by 3 of The Monkees (Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz). VIN # is 242177P303783 and mileage shows 11,663 (unsure of exact mileage). This vehicle is only one of three that the original designer/builder Dean Jeffries was involved with before he passed away. This beauty was built by Dakota Customs and the car’s build was documented and filmed for the Speed Channel, with Dean Jeffries providing direction and commentary. This 1967 Pontiac 4 speed was professionally transformed, matching the exact details of the original TV show cars, including the correct Crager rims, “french” headlights, removable soft top, gold flake 671 Blower (for show only, non-functional), custom radiator cap, belt cover, parachute, and even the red paint code. This is your only chance to own an American icon of 60’s era television and pop culture. This incredible car was built using a 1967 GTO with 4 speed manual transmission, just like the original. The custom build used a GM 350 V8 motor. The large blower is non functioning (for show only). This tribute car’s European “sister,” (built for the UK tour) sold in July 2014 for $127,000. Other “replicas” used a Pontiac Tempest as a donor car, and were not authorized by Dean Jeffries. This is the finest running and driving example of this cultural icon. Classic Auto Appraisers valuation of this car in 2012 was $130,000, with a conservative estimated annual appreciation of 5%. *(see appraiser credentials below) This estimated appreciation was made before Davy Jones and Dean Jeffries died. Appraisals done by Brian and Jeff at Classic Auto Appraisers are the most detailed and professional of any appraisal organization in the country, according to many national automotive insurance companies. *The appraisal was performed by Classic Auto Appraisers, a California corporation used by premier auction houses, auto magazines, celebrities and museums, including the Peterson Museum, the N.H.R.A Museum, and the Spring Car Hall of Fame.. These highly regarded specialty vehicle valuations are often the only ones accepted by classic car finance companies, specialty manufacturers, classic car showrooms, enthusiasts, and major credit unions. Brian Manning was trained by Jeff Hyman, who is on the board of advisors for N.A.D.A., and who is consulted regularly by NADA editors for input on their automotive guide books. Jeff is also an expert witness for many law firms in establishing the disputed value of collector vehicles, including the infamous “Engine 36” and “Chocolate Thunder.” Jeff is the ONLY appraiser in the country authorized by Boyd Coddington to certify, authenticate and appraise Boyd’s hundreds of unique creations, and he is the appraiser of choice for Rick Hendrick’s extensive collection, as well as Chip Foose, Barry White, So-Cal Speed Shop, California Street Rods, and many others. Brian is also trained and is a member of the International Automotive Appraisers Association and the NCRS (National Corvette Restorer’s Society), a member of the Tarheel Tigers Pontiac Club, and is a sought after car show judge. Below is a list of repairs, updates and customizations that the owner has done since purchasing the Monkeemobile in 2013:
– In late 2014, we had the fiberglass body and paint touched up, and the engine, undercarriage and frame professionally detailed by a hot rod builder/customizer in Daytona beach. He painted, wet sanded and buffed any cosmetic paint dings, fiberglass hairline stress cracks, and any parts of the engine and compartment that need repainting were re-done. He professionally cleaned the white convertible top. $1000. – In 2015, we sent the engine blower out to a chrome specialist in Miami and had the blower cover re-chromed, $550. – In 2016, we replaced the coolant system ($460) and the oil pan/gasket/rear main seal ($890). In addition to the regular oil change, they removed and replaced the fluids, transmission, and bellhousing, removed and replaced the radiator with a Griffin Pro Series radiator, new coolant, radiator cap and coolant jug. We also checked the spark plugs, and replaced the fuel sending unit. It needs a new speedometer cable, about $75. – In 2017, we replaced the carburetor with a Holly 4-barrel Supercharger carb from Summit Racing. Can’t find the receipt for that at the moment. It was around $600-800. – Not including the regular oil changes and professional detailing, total updates/repairs are over $6,700.
The car is in great condition and is ready to be shown and/or enjoyed. Imagine the looks that you’re going to get driving around in this classic. The major auction houses would love to get their hands on this beauty but it’s available only here. Best of all, no 10% buyer’s commission needed to purchase. Contact me with any questions.
