Car description |
---|
Listed for your consideration is a real 1965 Pontiac GTO that received a frame off restoration during the summer and fall of 2017. It is fully authenticated by the PHS documents and the 5N code on the data tag. The car was refinished in the correct Nightwatch Blue Metallic. The data and vin tags were not removed during the restoration.
The floor pans were replaced with a new correct one piece pan with braces. The trunk pan and drop offs were replaced with correct new panels as well. Quarter skins, not full quarters were installed and any other sheet metal as needed. The frame received new black paint after being blasted, all new brake lines and hardware installed, new fuel tank and sending unit, underside of the car is better than when it was new and inside of the trunk is better than new. The Safety-Trac Posi rear end was totally rebuilt with 3:36 gears and installed. The car has brand new American Racing VN605D Torq-Thrust D chrome 15x7 wheels with new Cooper Cobra 15 inch radial tires with the white letters turned in. The car runs at about 1900 RPM at 60mph, less than 200 miles on the car since frame off restoration.
The motor is a 65 389 with 092 heads, new headers, new dual exhaust with new factory stainless exhaust splitters, shocks, aftermarket aluminum intake and a Holley carburetor, new HEI distributor and new aluminum radiator, new firm feel power steering box, rebuilt power front disc brakes with a new dual reservoir master cylinder, The block is 30 over and was cleaned and honed with new rings and bearings installed, all new gaskets, RV cam and lifters, heads reworked, engine ran on stand for break in.
The interior was fully restored with a new headliner and factory padded dash, door panels, carpet, sail panels, dash components, seats cushions and seat covers, new original looking 1965 Pontiac AM/FM stereo with original knobs, new speakers. Windows roll up and down correctly, new rubbers and seals. New rear chrome tail panel trim and original bumpers were re-chromed, new GTO emblems.
The car runs very strong and drives nicely. It shifts well with the correct 3232 Hurst shifter and correct rebuilt M20 Muncie transmission. The paint is nice but has a couple of minor flaws here and there, but a beautiful car in a great factory color.
