Car description

For Sale is a beautiful, highly sought after and rare 1958 Bonneville Series 2547 Custom Sport Coupe, one year only body style. I'm includinga little history on this 1958 model2547 Bonneville.Wikipedia "Being the 50th Anniversary "Golden Jubilee" for Pontiac, they pulled out all the stops. This was, long time GM styling chief, Harley Earl's final statement before his retirement."There were only 12,240 Bonneville's made in 1958 and only 9,144 Custom Sport Coupes. This model actually paced the Indy 500 in 1958. It featured enormous amounts of chrome inside and out with futuristic space age styling features." This car screams late 50's space age design at its best.

The previous owner had this car restored 7 years ago.It hasonly driven a mere7000 miles since completed. It has its original 370 CI engine with the Rochester tri-power set up and factory dual exhaust, pushing 300 factory rated horse power backed by the Strato-Flight Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. This is a four-speed unit that features a low 3.97:1 first gear ratio for quick starts from a standstill. It gets up and goespretty good. The interior, including headliner, seat cover material and the Trinidad carpet was all re upholstered with NOS "New Old Stock" products. It has split front bench and rear fold down arm rest. The beautiful two tone color combination, whichI believe not to be the originalcolors, areclassic lookingtogether. The Body Tag Paint Code is WWN.The engine, transmission and three Rochester carburetors were all completely rebuilt during restoration. This car has power steering, power seats, air conditioning, push button radio, electric clock, courtesy lights all over and a front disc brake conversion up grade, which left no option but going with 15" rims, hence the late model Cragars with knock offs and wide whitewall tires. I do not have the original rims or hub caps. All of the original,re-plated exterior chrome stillshines excellent. The extensive stainless trim is also beautiful. Originally a western car and a nice survivor,it was restored with its original parts, re-plated, re-upholstered, etc. and any parts that may have been needed, OEM were used. Parts for this one year only, low production car are nearly impossible to find so you can appreciate the money spent on its restoration. This car is in excellent running and driving condition. The interior is stunning, just so much over the top detail, chrome and gadgets. I love the way the cylindrical ash trays pull out. The paint is still excellent, few very small touch ups, the engine compartment is nice and clean and the trunk is original and presentable. The underside of this car is rock solid with no evidence of patches or ever needing repair. It looks like POR 15 or under coat was applied for protection, not to hide anything and is peeling in a few places as can be seen in pics. There are two small spots of rust on the inside of the lower trunk drop offs all the way at the bottom. They are not visible unless you get under the car, easy repair if you wanted to. Car does have a few tinkering type things that can be done. The driver's door glass has a crack (replacement glass in trunk), the power seat switch was never reattached to the seat when interior was done and is sitting on the floor between your legs (functions fine), the AC is all hooked up and was working fine a year ago but the pulley bearing got tight and spun the belt, so that needs attention to put back in working order and there is a small stone ding in the windshield high on pass. side. There are quite a few spare parts that have been collected over the years that are in the trunk and are included with the sale. I've had a lot of cars in my days and this one is truly special. Over the top design details by Harley Earl and the skill of the American Autoworker are engulfed in this car.
