PLEASE SEE FACTORY GM OPTION LIST IN PHOTOS: Superb example of an original, all matching engine, transmission, original paint, carpet, floors, door panels, body panels unmolested Pontiac Trans Am with ZERO rust anywhere! Last year of round headlights, and the great 455 Pontiac motor. They are only ORIGINAL ONCE. GREAT car. This car is EXTREMELY well documented with factory documents and those of previous ownership. Factory GM documents include a letter from GM of Canada that was requested by the second owner in 1998 detailing the list of options the car had when new. It is exactly as the car is described, and has existed, from its' build date. Paper work includes letter from original owner who owned the car from new to 1998, owner's manuals, etc. I also have all of my repair receipts for things I have done. It had 4971 Miles when the original owner sold the car in 1998. It was originally sold in Canada, and I bought the car from a collector who stored the car in an indoor facility in Ohio. Absolutely NO rot or RUST anywhere. Car was not driven in Winter, and it shows. Paint beginning to thin a bit on the driver's side roof, as it was under a car cover that rubbed while the car was in storage. The car does not need new paint. It had a rust proofing compound placed underneath the car, and it is flaking now and exposing the correct, original red oxide primer which is intact. This coating did NOT require drilling holes in the door jambs which you see on some types of coatings. The balance of the coating can be removed with Varsol if someone so desires. This car was ordered to be a runner! 455, 4 speed Close Ratio M21 Option Code Borg Warner T-10, console delete, NO A/C, hood bird delete, radio delete, manual windows and door locks. Very few of these cars had no consoles. No antenna ever on the car, and the rear knock out plastic plug that is body color painted is in place in the rear quarter panel. (visible in photos). Power Steering of course, as it was standard. Interior is ALL original. Correct, Original Pontiac Honey comb wheels with very nice 15" rubber. Tires larger than stock by a bit. I am running 255's in the back, and I believe 215's in the front. Original Rochester Quadrajet 800 CFM Carburetor, GM electronic ignition, GM radiator, etc. Some of the emissions equipment was removed prior to my purchase. I installed a new true dual exhaust system from Waldron's (not cheap!) with a correct Super Duty style Transverse muffler above the rear axle. It is their "Mild Imposter" muffler, and it is quiet, but under acceleration you can hear it, and it is MUCH more free flowing than the stock set up which was really a single exhaust all the way to the catalytic converter and then to the muffler. This system is made of 2 1/2" pipe the whole way back. New Stainless Steel 2 1/2" dual exhaust splitter tips on each side. I also installed correct cast iron headers from Ram Air Restorations (NOT cheap, but the best!) which were coated to both reduce rust and to reduce under hood temperatures. The manifolds look stock, (they are much more free flowing) but they are much more efficient. (stock manifolds included with the car). The only other modification is that I made the Shaker on the hood functionally operating with a door that opens on the back when you accelerate briskly. Routine repairs I have performed include a new Brake Master Cylinder, new high pressure power steering hose, and a new heater core for the heater. By making the exhaust more open, and opening up the intake, the 455 really came alive! This car will smoke the 255mm rear tires easily from a stop, and chirp them for the first two shifts! I was surprised how strong the car runs! I had originally planned to change the intake manifold, and the heads and camshaft with a package from Butler Performance. I DECIDED THERE WAS NO NEED FOR THAT WITH THIS CAR! It really is that strong, and is dead solid reliable. Low compression factory motor runs great on regular gas. I also added Koni (the best!) Shock absorbers to firm up the handling. This car runs, stops, and handles like a the true 17k mile car that it is. NO drop at the hinges when you open the doors. Tight and Right. The great thing about a high torque 455 is that it will smoke the factory 3.23 gears that are in the GM 10 bolt positraction rear end from a stop, (rear end still has the GM ID tag on it and original factory 3.23 gears of course) AND when you are going 70MPH, this engine is just loping along. When you nail it at 70MPH, it just speeds right up to 100MPH quickly with no fuss and no wailing RPM's. You just don't need a 5 speed in this car. This car is balanced as a result. With factory front disc brakes, it will also STOP. It stopped shorter than did the Corvette in 1976. This is probably lighter than most 1976 equipped cars, so at the margin, it should stop better still. One of the most versatile and balanced muscle cars I have ever owned, and it handles light years better than most others. Clutch and transmission work together perfectly and the car shifts great. No rattles, no fuss. This car can do it all. No apologies or disappointments here. None! I cannot promise (as almost every dealer does!) that muscle cars are great investments, but I do know this much: the later model cars, i.e. Trans Ams etc. from the later 1970's and newer are BETTER investments, generally, as the collectors and people that remember these cars fondly are a bit YOUNGER. We muscle car enthusiasts are getting older :). Trans Ams have been acting very good relative to other muscle cars, to be sure. That part can only help at the margin. I am selling this car, as I am short space, and simply do not drive it enough. THEY ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE! A note about price: I am not desperate, and I have priced this car according to its' condition to use as is, safely and with minimum fuss as it sits right now. Some people are asking crazy money for cars no where near as good, or original, as is this example. This is not cheap, but it is NOT crazy money. Don't compare this to an automatic 400 car....a 455 4 speed trumps those by leaps and bounds in terms of driving experience, and rarity, and collectability as a result. Clear Texas Title. Inspections welcomed and encouraged. Car is garaged near Love Field in Dallas TX USA. Fly in, drive it home! Look at my feedback. Buy with confidence.
