I am listing this car for a friend. He was a mechanic who serviced and maintained it since it was new. He purchased it 20 years ago from the elderly owner when she decided she should no longer drive. This classic Pontiac Catalina truly needs nothing. It is an authentic original survivor. The distinctive styling and appealing color combination (Caribe Turquoise and Shelltone Ivory) make it a real head turner. It looks gorgeous from all angles and is ready to be driven anywhere. With only 43,315 original miles, it drives like the day it was new. The 389 engine is quiet and powerful and the automatic transmission shifts smooth and flawlessly. Like many cars of this period it does not have A/C. It has new front shoes and brake hoses. All the wheel cylinders are new. It has new radial tires with less than 200 miles on them. It also has an electric fuel pump. The seats, headliner and door panels are perfect. The glass, chrome and stainless are in excellent condition. The under carriage, floor pans and trunk are solid. The car has had no body damage or rust repair since he has owned it and it has always been garaged. The only faults worth mentioning would be expected for a 57 year old unrestored car. The bumpers have some scratches and small dents and there is a small ding just behind the passenger's door. There is also some minor pitting below the chrome strips (pic). The car speaks for itself but you won't find a nicer specimen of American automotive history. If you have any questions or concerns before bidding, you can address them to Butch at (412) 751-4248. He is a straight up guy and will be happy to discuss the car with you. Inspections are welcome and encouraged. A $1000 good faith deposit will be required by certified check within 48 hours of the auction close with the balance due by the same method within 7 days. The car is being sold as is/where is without warranty. The shipping cost and arrangements shall be the responsibility of the purchaser. Thank you for looking.
