LeMans' have been turned into GTO recreations. but thankfully we have cars like this 1970 LeMans to remind us how truly awesome these cars were. The truth is. they make fine cars without the hype that the GTO badge brings with it. and thanks to a gorgeous paint job and a few modest upgrades. this is a great high end cruiser that won't break the bank. A little research showed us that the original color on the 2 door hardtop was Blue Charcoal. However. someone along the way decided that a nice glossy black coat of paint was a better choice. as it shows off the bright work. slick body. and really makes it pop. From the front grille to the back bumper the chrome is shiny and adds just the right amount of jewelry to the car. The clean smooth lines show that even though this car isn't the GTO. it is still part of the muscle car family and rightfully belongs there. We've learned over the years that some of the best cars for weekend cruising are those that are no fuss. and this is the perfect example. The black interior has all the right ingredients for a sporty muscle car. Black buckets continue to prove that no matter what kind of Pontiac you're driving. it's going to looks great. The seat covers and carpets are clean. along with the door panels which are in great condition. The three spoke steering wheel looks right at home in the Pontiac. and the round gauge pods ahead of the driver carry what appear to be original instruments that are in good order. An upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo system is ideal for cruising and the trunk is clean with a mat fitted in the back. Lift the long hood and you'll find that still resting in the engine bay is believed to be the original 350ci V8. Wearing two matching partial vin stamps. the small block was rebuilt by the team at Gunn Racing Motors. Painted in a correct Pontiac turquoise. the 350 is stunning under the hood. It's a perfect example of how a motor doesn't always have to be decked out in chrome to be flashy. Behind the engine is also believed to be the original transmission (recently rebuilt by Trans-Tek) that sends power to a 10-bolt rearend. Stopping power comes courtesy of front power disc brakes that sit within American Racing Chrome Torque Thrust wheels. wrapped in BF Goodrich rubber. We love the fact that this car isn't a recreation. yet a sharp. clean. classic muscle car that will gather attention wherever it goes. This Le Mans is a car you can be proud of for its own merits. After all. who wouldn't want to be seen in awesome American steel like this?
