Car description |
---|
The Notchback was an optional package that was made only available on the Trans AM GTA model and only available for the 1988, and part of 1989, model years. There was a total of 718 Trans AM GTAs with the optional Notchback produced during the 1988 model year. Instead of the normal hatch glass that was found on the Third Generation Firebirds, the optional Notchback package replaced the hatch glass with a fiberglass decklid, small glass rear window, and straight decklid spoiler. In addition to the fiberglass decklid, the optional Notchback package replaced the standard Trans AM GTA rear seats with unique rear seats featuring integrated headrests.
I rescued this car from sitting another year. it has been parked 12 years under a carport sitting on gravel..
Things it needs:
Tires are the original factory and they are sidewall dry rotted.
Brakes are the original and need attention pads should do it.
Headliner is sagging in the interior.
Paint is checking and clear coat has faded on the hood roof and rear deck lid.
Drivers side rear tail light lens has a small chip out of it.
Headlight motors have the infamous chattering gears..ebay has them 6 bucks.
power rear hatch pull down motor quit working, Fuse?
The Good: Motor runs like new.
Trans shifts fine through all gears with no hesitation.
body is very solid.
power windows.
power locks. power seats.
air con.
power antenna.
digital dash.
steering wheel controls.
FM stereo with tape deck.
all brake lights turn signals in working order.
overall interior is a solid 8-out of 10..
new battery.
fresh fuel.
new fluids..
hit the key the car came to life just dying to be driven again.
it is lightning quick and has no trouble roasting the tires right off the rims. cooks the tires until you let off the peddle.
Now lets talk about the car as a whole:
overall its a great GTA with Good bones. needs paint and some small odds and ends..
These cars were purpose built collectables according to the PHS society. only 635 of these rare cars were produced in 1988 only..this one being the rarest production run of only 33 in Gun Metal Silver with non T-Top and digital dash Gray cloth interior,
Has the 5.7 TPI Motor with the 700r4 trans, this is the exact same configuration they used in the C4 corvettes of this era..
there are very few of these cars left in the world today..heres a chance to own one for a song and dance.
in sort the cars does run and drive and everything is working order just needs the right owner to bring her back up to snuff. once done you will have a car that nobody has..take this to the cruise inns car shows and you will see the attention this car draws..
As with any used car I recommend coming out taking it for a dive have it inspected kick the tries to form your own opinion,
I have described this car to the very best of my knowledge. I am not the original owner.
what you see is what you get..
Please be reasonable with your expectations, This car is not showroom new, if your looking for that I suggest you move along..its 20+ years old, But Still a darn fine example of a GTA Notchback just as it sits..
Got any questions please feel free to text me @ 313 826-9497 Ron
