Vinyl Interior SELLER REMARKS Even today. there's not much better than a powerful. classic American Muscle Car. And. this 1965 Pontiac GTO hardtop offers everything that made these cars so popular. then and now. The period color. the 389 Tri-Power V8. and a set of rare Hurst wheels. all make this the car that you always wished you'd have bought back in the day but never quite managed to get. The early GTOs like this are highly sought after by collectors. thanks to a more squared-off body with minimal chrome work. To a true car enthusiast the beauty of the car shines through without needing flashy wheels. crazy custom designs. or overpowering paint schemes. This 1965 2-door Hardtop GTO has a finish quality that is very good. with even gaps all around. and not to mention it still wears its factory correct Y-code Mayfair Maize paint that looks fantastic. Pontiac's subtle hood scoop hints at the power underneath. allowing the rumble to come through without being so over the top that it feels like it is challenging everyone on the street. While almost devoid of chrome. what chrome that is on the car is very clean. including the bumpers and rocker panel trim. This accentuates the pale yellow paint nicely. while proper GTO badges on all sides. plus the fender emblems. remind onlookers that this is no garden-variety Tempest. Inside. the black vinyl interior is extremely clean and appears like new. Black buckets with their distinctive Pontiac diagonal stitching are fresh. clean. and crisp. The darker interior is a great contrast to the pale exterior and looks luxurious. The three-spoke steering wheel features the iconic Pontiac symbol. the dash has a wood grained appearance. and the door panels and dash have the correct GTO badges. These touches just go to show that a muscle car doesn't have to be void of the small details. and these really complete an interior. The trunk has a nice liner and includes a spare tire cover. With how clean everything is. you'll be ready to jump behind the wheel and give this car a spin like it was fresh out of the showroom in 1965. Pontiac's famous 389 cubic inch V8 doesn't need much introduction. While we know the engine isn't the original (but certainly period correct). once you pop the hood you'll agree that it looks right at home in the black engine bay. Equipped with the mighty Tri-Power configuration. the block was balanced and blueprinted during the extensive recent rebuild. making it fearsomely fast on the street. Correctly detailed with corporate turquoise engine paint. tidy little air cleaners on the carburetors. and chrome valve covers. simply because Pontiac brass new that car guys were going to spend a lot of time admiring this engine. The wicked cackle from the dual exhaust system comes from a reproduction ram air exhaust manifolds and a complete Gardner Exhaust. Bolted to the block is a manual transmission that sends power to a posi rear end with highway ready 3. 55 gears. Transferring the power to the ground is 14" Rally rims that have been wrapped in correct-looking redline radials. Included in the sale of this pristine GTO is PHS Documentation. reproduction window sticker. and restoration photos. What many consider the first American Muscle car still stands today as one of the most sought after vehicles of all time. One this well finished won't last long in our showroom.
