Car description

Year-in and year-out, few cars are as popular as the mighty Pontiac GTO. And if you're a fan of driving, this unusual 1970 Pontiac GTO hardtop offers everything you'd want, ranging from a stout 400 cubic inch V8 to factory A/C to those three magic letters on the nose, all at a very appealing price.Having lived all of its life in a warm climate, the bodywork on this car is in very good shape and shows no signs that it was resurrected from a rusted hulk. That's a big plus on a car that's 45 years old and it makes a good foundation for the unusual Coronado Gold paint, which lends this Goat a low-key look that's perfect for quietly prowling the streets. The Endura front bumper was a pretty big deal in 1970 and gives the Goat a uniquely Pontiac look, and today it shows well with only minor signs of age and use, which only means it's working as intended. The Ram Air hood is a signal that this GTO should be left alone on the street, and the lack of a vinyl roof or rear wing makes it look purposeful and clean. Correct GTO emblems and badges are in place and the bright chrome rear bumper is in excellent condition. The matching gold bucket seat interior is an awesome choice when you're used to seeing plain old black all the time, and the high-back buckets look especially good in the performance-oriented GTO. Remarkably, this one appears to be mostly original and in good condition, and comes with options like factory A/C (needs to be serviced), power steering and brakes, plus a relatively rare AM/FM radio that still works. The upholstery is in good shape and showing only minor signs of age and use, and it appears that the gauges are also quite original, more evidence of a nicely-kept car. Engine-turned dash panels are a Pontiac trademark and the three-spoke steering wheel is pure 1970s funky that practically screams performance. You can also see signs of clean living in the trunk, which appears to wear factory-applied spatter paint and some pretty darned nice sheetmetal.Under that twin-snorkel air cleaner there's a strong-running Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8 under the hood and it delivers the kind of performance you'd expect from the flagship GTO. We're pretty sure it's the original engine but haven't confirmed, but all the parts are there and it looks correct. For the most part it's completely stock and unless you're a Pontiac expert, it'll be ideal for cruising and having fun on the street. Regardless of its pedigree, it runs well, pulls hard, and has a great eight cylinder growl from the recently replaced twin mufflers underneath. It's backed by a rugged TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear end, so you don't have to worry about running it hard because the hardware is built for it. You can see evidence of its life in the dry climate when you look underneath and see that it's never been undercoated and the floors are in great shape. The stance is perfect, especially sitting on a set of Pontiac Rally II wheels and 225/70/14 Dunlop radials.Offering a great look, a lot of power, and the legendary GTO nameplate, this is a great driver-grade Goat that's ready to enjoy without the massive price tag.
