1970 Pontiac GTO - Pepper Green - PHS documented I am listing this for a friend (his family) who passed away in 2016. He purchased it in 1997, in Lenexa, KS, (Kansas City) with a knocking noise in the engine. In fact, on April 13, it will be 20 years. Odometer reads 97,369. VIN is 242370R132063 I will post many more pictures at https://www.flickr.com/gp/151510303@N02/wf68d4 The Specs from PHS: Andy Klien Pontiac, Overland Park, KS. 400 CID – 350 Hp YS TurboHydraMatic 400 Pepper Green Black Vinyl Top Green Interior Assembly Plant: Arlington, TX 3.23 rear axle ratio AM Radio Pushbutton Rear Seat Speaker Electric Clock Decor Group Air Conditioning Door Edge Guards Rear Defog Rally II wheels Power Steering Power Disc Brakes Floor mats F & R Tinted Windows all G70x14 whitewall The Condition When he bought this in 1997 in Kansas City, it ran but had a knock in the engine. It was trailered home. He has done some of the body work on this car, the only real work is in the left quarter there is some rust to fix. The car itself overall is relatively free of rust and there is not any in the floors or truck or any inner structures that I can see. The car was heavy undercoated at some point early, perhaps even at the dealer or ziebart. The trunk has lot and it appears some previous owner used newspaper to keep from getting the things put in the truck dirty with undercoating. It is not soft or sticky at this point though. It looks to me like he wasn't planning putting the vinyl top back on. Rear bumper is there but needs to be rechromed, taillights are nice with the chrome edging. Endura and headlight bezels are very nice. This isn't quite a frame off, but the frame has been cleaned and painted, but the undercoating on the floor pans, etc has been left there and painted chassis black. The brakes are done, rearend is cleaned and painted. All green interior is there, except one rear 'door panel/armrest', the green plastic piece that sits next to the rear seat lower than the door panel type piece. This is a bucket seat car and it has correct green bucket seats, column shift was changed to a floor shift and console. Shifter is installed and works correctly. The headliner is very nice and does not need replacement. Green steering wheel is nice and does not need replacing, includes the green horn pad, but its not installed in the pictures, but there is a separate pic of it. The dash pad is in nice condition, would be perfect except for a round area on the top where something was stuck on. It is not really damaged there, you can just see the round area. The seat belts were removed but are included. it seems that the rear speakers were cut out for something larger at some point and then the original (6x9) speaker hole areas re-welded in. the dash is cut for an aftermarket stereo. There is new green carpet and a new correct green package tray. The rear window is good and is not installed. There is a new windshield that is not installed. (no picture of this) The original engine is included. After disassembly of this original YS engine, it was discovered that the knock was a rod knock and the crankshaft was bad. Also though turned out that a piston pin that was working its way out - pictures are included of a groove in a cylinder, that at first glance doesn't seem that bad, but it may ultimately need to be sleeved. All engine parts are included but it is entirely disassembled. There is a different crank here that he had for it that has standard journals. Original distrubutor is here, and original 13 heads. There is a 1969 carb that might be the original carb, but it seems like it should have a 1970 number in the carb number even though it was built in 12/69, so it may not be original. Original exhaust manifolds are included, have been media blasted and painted. older headpipes and mufflers are there (don't know if original) also timing cover, oil pan, windage tray, rocker deflectors, all that sort of thing is there, pulleys, etc. other new parts included with this car exhaust tailpipes from mufflers to tips exhaust tips A new gas tank a GM dipstick tube engine gaskets ( I think all) frost plug set oil pump oil filter std rod bearings thermostat. carb kit and float -if I come across any more parts for this I'll include them. The rearend in the car is a XF code 3.23 saf-t-track (posi), even though the PHS doesn't state saf-t-track. I've checked it and it is a posi. There is the original A/C compressor in a box, and a restored compressor with bracket that looks ready to be installed. front and rear sway bars are there, front and rear valances are there and need a little work. original transmission is cleaned up and in the car, as is the radiator (PM code) and shroud. The hood that is included has surface rust and probably will need media blasting or replacement. The Ram Air IV written on the hood is not accurate, this is not a ram air car... also included are a judge rear wing a judge chin spoiler I believe these two parts to be reproduction and new but not 100% sure. Since this is not a judge and this may not be what you want to do with the car, I will deduct $300 from the final price if you do not want these. This is a "number matching" car. The VIN number is also present on the front of the block. PHS documentation is also included, as well as a new dealer emblem from Andy Klein Pontiac. This emblem is a newer plastic one, so its probably not the exact one that would have been on it. The Terms Shown in the pictures are 15” Rally II Wheels and Firestone Firehawk SS's – these are included in this auction - but if you do not want them, I will remove $500 from the price. But then, you will need to bring tires with you to transport the car. Also again I will deduct $300 from the final price if you do not want the judge rear wing, and judge chin spoiler. A deposit (paypal is ok) of $500 will be required within 3 days of the auction ending to hold the car until you can pick up. Paypal is ok for the deposit, but not the entire value of the car. Delivery is not available by me. I will absolutely help load the car onto a trailer when you arrive or if you send someone else. No checks will be accepted. Just to reiterate, shipping is your responsibility if you need it. Also note the car will need to paid in full prior to this, or cash at the time of pickup. Also note that you should not think you can be bidder on this car and arrive to negotiate about the price of the car. The final bid on the car on eBay will be the price of the car. So this car is a restoration in progress and if it seems like a lot of work left, consider this. The underside is pretty much done as is a lot of the body work. Take the car to body shop, have the body finished and painted. Meanwhile, take the engine to a machine shop and get it sorted out. Then you just have the fun stuff left...install the engine and interior...and off you go. I'll include many pictures on a flickr site above to show as much as possible about the car, please ask any questions you need to. Here is a rare chance to own and restore an original 1970 GTO, number matching, with PHS documentation...
