Car description |
---|
My wife and I have decided to sell our '76 Grand Safari wagon. I have a bunch of original paperwork including the build sheet. There were only 6,176 of these three-seat Grand Safari wagons made in 1976 which was the last year for the 127-inch wheelbase cars and the last year for the 455 cubic-inch engines.
The car is equipped with:
455 four-barrel engine
Turbo 400 transmission
Power steering
Power brakes
Third row seat
Cold air conditioning (converted to 134)
AM/FM radio with rear speaker
Power windows
Power tailgate/rear glass
Finned wheel covers
Roof rack
Brand new "Desert Cooler" radiator
Remote driver's side/manual passenger sport mirrors
There are about 78,000 miles on the odometer which are true miles. The interior is in good condition and all original. Some of the stitching on the front seat has failed, but the seat is not torn. The two rear seats are in excellent shape. The dashpad has a small chip in the corner near the drivers door but is otherwise undamaged. The carpeting is in very good shape as is the headliner.
The paint is faded and flat. There are a few small rust spots on the hood and front fenders but the car is otherwise rust free. The floors and frame are all good. There are a few dings in the body but nothing terrible.
The engine runs well and everything works as it should. However, because the car has been sitting in the garage for the better part of 10 years, the transmission seals and the pinion seal in the rear axle are leaking. The tires are badly checked but are still holding air. To answer the question, yes the car is driveable, but only onto a trailer or flatbed. DO NOT plan on driving it any further than that.
