At auction is this very nice 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix, odel J serial number 2K57T3A258441. This vehicle is owned by my friend from Madison, S. A house builder with 20 houses under construction, e has asked me to help sell this car for him. He has 4 other Pontiacs and is concentrating on a 1963 Pontiac Bonneville 3x2 car and thus needs to sell this Grand Prix. The car, hich has had a frame off restoration need nothing. No expense has been spared in its complete restoration. In 1973 General Motor's Pontiac motor division had a major redesign of the Grand Prix. Sales were strong with a new Grand Prix production record of over 150,000 units. This vehicle was produced at the GM plant in Atlanta, A. The car was sold new through Alexander Motor Company in Bay Springs, S on August 10, 973. It has always been a southern based car. The car was sold to the second owner in 1975. He kept the car until the current owner bought it in 2008. At that time, t had 99,757 miles. As of this date November 20, 015 the mileage reads 01975. This Grand Prix was in sound shape when the current owner purchased it however he decided to perform a complete nut and bolt, rame off restoration. The body was removed and the frame and all suspension parts were sand blasted and repainted using Eastwood products. All suspension wear parts were replaced using PST polyurethane bushings. Ball joints and tie rod ends were all replaced with new U-joints installed. New shocks were installed. The entire braking system was replaced with new discs and new shoes. All brake lines were replaced and a new master cylinder installed. Fuel lines are also new. The engine and transmission are original to the car. The engine is a 400 cubic inch V8. Both the engine and transmission were rebuilt. The engine was bored .030 over and received a mild cam upgrade using Comp Cam XE2568. The engine received all new pistons, ings, earings, eals, il pump, nd timing gear. The heads were reworked and received hardened seats. The engine cranks and runs very well with considerable power and a great sound through Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers. All of the muffler system from exhaust manifolds to tail pipes was replaced. The transmission was rebuilt and shifts effortlessly. The differential is an open 3.08 and runs quietly with no problems. The axle bearings were replaced. The body of the Grand Prix was in good shape at the start of the restoration. The body was completely stripped and then primed with a DuPont Epoxy primer. The old vinyl top was taken off. There were no rust issues with this vehicle. The car was painted with DuPont paint and clear coat. The quality of the paint job (which we did here at my shop) is exceptional even after the 6 years since it was painted. The car has not been parked in the weather since the repaint. The glass on the car is good. The bumpers were sent off and re-chromed. The interior of the Grand Prix is excellent. New fabric was sourced from SMS Fabrics on the West Coast. New buns were used on the front seats. New carpet was installed. The dash was sent off to Just Dashes in California and reworked at a cost of over $1200. A new headliner was installed. Some interior items were not available for this car. All items were either replaced, e-dyed, r re-sprayed (see photos). The interior looks like new. The clock was reworked with a quartz movement. All gauges work. The air conditioning system was reworked with a new compressor, ondenser, nd evaporator. It blows cold. The correct AM/FM radio is in the car but is not hooked up as there is a modern, idden radio (Custom Auto Sound) in the console. The radio has a remote feature with remote amps and subs. The car has been completely insulated with Dynamate material. The negatives on the car are few: Minor cracks in the front plastic valence between the bumper and body (See photo); Cancel cam for blinker sometimes will not cancel (this started with a tilt steering wheel column was added to the car); The hood opener was replaced but sometimes does not easily open the hood and it has to be opened manually from the front. A lot of time and expense was put into the Pontiac Grand Prix one of the finest to be found anywhere in the USA. Less than 2000 miles have been put on the car since the restoration was completed in 2008. The car is driven annually between 200-400 miles but could easily be a daily driver or weekend cruiser. The car could be driven dependably on any length trip. This vehicle honestly drives like it's on rails. This vehicle is for sale locally, nd we reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
