Car description

1957 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina 4 door hardtop

I am listing this car for some friends who have owned it since 2000. It is driven often and taken on theoccasional day trip and has proven to be a reliable driver. It comes with a stack of receipts for all the maintenance they've had done over the years to keep the car in good running condition at all times. I have recently driven the car myself and it starts right up, uns, rives and stops perfectly and is very comfortable to drive.

This is a car that can be enjoyed and taken to car shows as-is, r is an extremely solid start for someone who wants to go the full route with the new paint, hrome, tc. Much of the hard work has been done with the motor, ransmission, nd other systems having already been rebuilt.

That said, t is an old car and old cars always need work of some kind and this car is no exception. Please keep this in mind and ask all questions before you bid.

If you've read this far, ou probably already know that 1957 Pontiac 4-door hardtops are also somewhat rare. There were just over 40,000 Chieftain Catalina 4 door HT's built, ut how many are still on the road? This ain't the '57 Chevy that you see at EVERY local cruise night. Why not drive something different?

Please find moreinfo about the car below. I encourage you to ask any and all questions you may have about the car before you bid.

The basics:

-347 Cubic inch V-8 w/ Hydramatic transmission

-Body/style number: 2739

-The VIN decoder at pontiacsafari.com says the that this car was built in Pontiac's South Gate, alifornia plant

-Paint code 'RKK' indicates that the color combo was Caribe Coral/Sheffield Gray

-Mileage: 16420

Updated in recent years:

-Engine completely rebuilt in 2012 (approximately 2000 miles ago) by a reputable local shop that specializes in classic American cars (receipts available)

-Transmission rebuilt in 2013(approximately 1000 miles ago)by the same shop above(receipts available)

-Interior has been re-done. Seats, oor panels, eadliner, nd carpets are all in very nice condition.

-Repainted in original color 'Caribe Coral' some years ago, ut still looks very presentable as you can see in the photos

Other attributes:

-Very nice stainless trim all the way around with minimal dings, tc.

-Extremely solid body...rockers are 100% solid, rip rails are clean and rust free. Overall, few small dings here and there on an older respray, ut the body on this car is very solid and straight.

-All chrome is original and shows some wear, ut still very presentable

-California black plate car with current registration

Things you should know:

-There are some small spots of rust (see pics) around the door bottoms. These spots are extremely small, ut still worth mentioning.

-There is avintageA/C unit under the dash, hich was working just fine and blew cold air until the engine was rebuilt. The owners stopped using it because the pulley on the unit started rubbing against the upper radiator hose and eventually caused a leak once it wore through. The climate here is pretty mild, o they just pulled the belt off and haven't used it since. My guess is that if you loosened the unit under the hood and re-positioned it, ou could put the belt back on and have A/C again, ut you'd just have to try it and see if it works.
