You are viewing an extremely rarePHS DOCUMENTED, ll ORIGINA, ERY highly optioned 1969 Firebird 400 Convertible!I have viewedhundreds of1969 Firebird 400cars over the years, ncludingmanyconvertibles, nd have seen very few that were all original like this one and have never seen one with as many options as this one has! I looked for years before finding this one andnow due to some unforeseen circumstances I need to sell it, lthoughI amcertainI will never find one like it again.I purchased this car about 9 years ago and have had it in storage ever since with the hopes thateach year I would be able to start the restoration on it and it would become my dream car. I have a copy of the PHS documents showing that it is the real thing and hasits original330 HP numbers matching engine.Even the rear end, ntake manifold, adiator, ir conditioning, arburetoretc..are all original. (I'm not sure about the transmission, he number on it is 47B103197, hich does not match the vin on the car.) If you are not sure how rare this is just takea look at closed auctions on e-Bay, lassic car ads, ar showsetc. and you will find thatalmostALL of the "1969 Firebird 400" cars either have a 350, 28, r some other engine in them that is not a 400, ris a "period correct" 400 with a similar date, ut is not the original engine. Many times the engine has been modified or"hopped up"by changing the heads, ntake, r any number of other internal parts. This engine is all original...I checked all of the numbers and they match for thisengine. If by some very rare chance youDO finda true numbers matching car, nd youDO findit in a convertible, you just won't find it with the options this car has. This car is one ofa kind. I did some research a while back and found a site on the net thatsays thatGM built 76,000 hard top 1969 Firebirds, ut only 11,649 convertibles, nd the vast majority of the convertibles were NOT 400 optioned. Most had 350, 26 engines etc.. They only built 6,921 cars that had the YT engine code in BOTHhard top AND convertible. If you go by percentages on the convertible versus hard top production numbers that means thatGM may have only built around 1,000YT code 1969 Firebird convertibles, ndI am sure only a handful, r fewer, with this many options. How many do you think still exist today...45 years later? This may very well be theonly 1969 YT code Firebird convertibleleft with this may options. Below is a list of the ORIGINAL Factory Options this car has. The optionslisted below are on the PHS documents for this car and are FACTORY GM OPTIONS, nd don't include anydealer installed options!

That's 28 options that are listed on the PHS sheet for this car!! There are a few other options that I guess are a part of the main options for this car that are not mentioned, uch as the nice factory dash clock, rrow head emblem on the front bumper, corn chrome and black lug nuts, ront chrome grill surroundsetc.,--over 32 options that I found in all! This is not mentioning the dealer options that this car may haveoriginally had that I don't know about. This Firebird does run and drive! After sitting for many years before I bought it, was not sure how much it would take to get it running again, ut after putting some new points, nd a rotor and cap on it fired up and ran. It was a little rough at first, nd then it got smoother and smoother as it warmed up. Now it starts right up and idles and runs pretty well. The ignition switch doesn't work for some reason, o I jump start it. Theturbo 400 seems to shift solid and work as it should. The power steering, mergency brake, egular brakes etc. seem to work ok also. I drove it back and forth in the yardandspun the tires acouple times for kicks andalthough it needs a tune-up, t ran pretty well for sitting for so long. The engine didn't have any noises of anykind and seem to be solid.I was getting ready to go out on themain road into town with it when I decided to take a look underneath to make sure it was not leaking any fluids of any kindwhen I noticed it had gas leaking out of thefuel lineon therear frameand also some froma rubber hose on the right sideunder theengine. I immediately shut it down. It's a good thing I looked, r the whole thing could have gone up in a ball of flames! I didn't realize it, ut after closer inspection noticed that the metal fuel line is badly rusted and needs to be completely replaced. I was going to replace it, ut am very busy withwork so I will let the new owner do it. It's too bad, ecauseI think it would have been fun to drive it down the main road for a while. Now I want to make sure you realize that this car needs a COMPLETE frame-off restoration. It has a LOT of rust and body putty in it.As you can see in the photos it needs just about everything repaired, estored, r replaced. The doors shut, uttheyneed to be lined up better, nd the floor boards, uarter panels, runk pan etc.need to be replaced.Like I mentioned earlier, t runs and drives and seems mechanically solid, ut I must be honest with youand say that the rest of the car is a mess. Don't plan on driving this car home. It has to be trailered or put on a car hauler or a tow dolly forshipping.Like most cars that need to be restored, ome parts on this car look nice, nd other areas are completely shot. The frame railslookok to me, ut the body panels (rear quarters, enders, loor boards and trunk) are in really bad shape and need to be replaced. Even the control arms have flaking rust on them (I do have nice control arms that go with the car). In spite of all of this, he dash pad, rare wood grain sport steering wheel, olding rear seat, nd some other things look really good...go figure. I do havequitea few parts that go with the car, ncluding a brand new windshieldfor the cracked one that is in it, new quarter panel, nd afew other parts. Other than the front windshieldtherest of theglass looks like it is in pretty good shape and doesn't need to be replaced. The power seat works but needs to be lubricated. I had 3 of the power windows workingwith some assistance but now I can't get any of them to work so I think there's a bad connection someplace. I was moving some wiring around to get the interior lights to work, o I think I must have bumped the connection for the windowsor something.Thestock remote mirror works fine. The power top works but does need a push in a few spots and one of the rams is leaking. The rare AM/FM Multiplex Stereo radio has a flip dial that seems to work ok and looks like it is in ok shape, ut the harness to it is missing soI don't know if it works or not. The power antenna is missing, ut I can see where it was mounted in the trunk and you do see them come up on e-Bay from time to time so they are available. (I think the same ones were used for Camaros, oo.)I can go on and on about this car, utI guess the best thing to do is to tell you to take a close look at the photos, nd especially the one of the PHS sheet so you can see this isthe real thing, nd please don't hesitate to ask any and all questions and I will do my best to answer them. This is an EXTREMELY rare car and I REALLY want this car to go to a special home where it will be completely restored to its former glory. Please remember though, his is a big project, o don't plan on getting it in top shape for a car showin a few months, t will take a lot of time and work. I don't wantthe highbidderwho comes to pick this car upto look at it and say "hey this car is really rusty",.... This car is really rusty! I have tried to be honest in my description (the guy I bought the car from did not tell me aboutmost of this stuff) and if I think of anything else I willadd it tothe description. That said, when you are done you will have one of the rarest, ost special and highly-optioned,NUMBERSMATCHING Firebird 400 Convertibles in the country!!It willbereallysadto seeit go. I spent a lot of time (years!) looking for this special car, ut now maybe you can do what I can't and give it what ittruly deserves....a complete restoration and a newhome where it will be pampered and taken to car shows.:)Finally, his car does come with a clear Oregon title in my name. I will assist in the loading of this car on your trailer or the trailer of the shipper you send out to pick it up. Please remember, will need a $500 deposit received within 24 hrs after the auction ends, nd the car must be paid for and picked up within 3 weeks unless other arrangements are made before the end of the auction. It is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if there are no bids on the car. Thanks for viewing this listing!
