Car description

This will be the last time listing the car, f it doesn't sell this time I'll try and find somewhere safe to take it to be able to fix or convert the transmission. The only reason I listed it for sale was where I live now there's nothing but dirt and grass and it's not worth the risk of the car sinking jackstands into the ground while I'm under it trying to get the trans in and out. All of the other vehicles you see don't belong to me and this is/was my sole means of transportation. I know it needs the trans rebuilt yet again but I can't afford to lose too much on it as I'll need to buy another car with the proceeds, hank you for understanding.Up for your consideration is my 1979 Pontiac Firebird. Clear Alabama title in my name. Car has 90,484 miles on the body with only a couple hundred miles on the swapped in rebuilt Chevrolet 350 and TH350. The bad news is the one that rebuilt the transmission packed the forward friction clutches too tightly and they've shredded themselves apart leaving only reverse working. It'll still creep in drive, ut that's it. Recent oil and filter change after breaking the engine in, sed Shell Rotella for its high zddp content to protect the flat tappet camshaft. The motor consists of a four bolt main block out of a '76 C-10 and was bored .040" over for a total displacement of 357 with new bearings, eals, nd gaskets throughout. Goodwrench "993" heads were worked and used. Crane 286 camshaft kit, new pushrods, alve springs, nd stamped rocker arms. High flow water pump and high flow oil pump. 12:1 static compression with 11:1 dynamic compression, uns great on Shell 93. Weiand dual-plane aluminum intake and Edelbrock Performer 750 cfm carburetor. Delco HEI ignition with new Federal 8.5mm wires and NGK G-power platinum plugs. New Fram PCV valve and fuel filter, tant SuperStat, adiator cap, nd fuel cap top off the small things. Radiator was flushed out and has performed well with the motor running at 195-200ยบ consistently. Still has stock manifolds and exhaust as I was waiting until after the engine was broken in to put on headers and redo the entire exhaust. New EverStart battery and ground wires. Ended up trading hoods with someone local and put on the rare shaker scoop assembly from a Chevrolet 305 Trans Am a few weeks ago right before the transmission went out on me. The interior is all there but the front seats really need replaced as does the carpet, he dash has one hairline crack in it on the edge of the "binnacle" and the headliner is new. I do have the passenger arm rest and an aftermarket radio to go with it, nbsp; The only exterior pieces missing are the grille inserts and the lense for the fuel door, hat and the passenger door trim piece. I have a gallon of PPG Mayan Red paint to go with the car and the arrowhead badge and Firebird script badges are in the glovebox. The only rust on the car is the passenger corner of the decklid, small spot at the edge of the trunk pan, nd in the passenger rear floor where I can only guess someone left a battery or something. Everything electrical works except for the horn and fuel gauge, ut I have another steering wheel and gauge cluster to go with the car. The car is an A/C car but the compressor was somehow lost during the swap and it'll need redone. The car drove great until drive left the party, till moves around in reverse fantastically though so loading onto a trailer will be no problem.I've always wanted a second generation Firebird, he '79-81 bodystyle in particular, nd I've thought long and hard about this as this isn't easy for me. I had thought about selling it before but I could never convince myself despite the fact having a daily that gets low teens on 93 without A/C isn't exactly ideal along with the fact I miss having a manual, ut I'm glad I waited as I'd have hated for this to happen to someone after they had bought it. If you happen to have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for looking.Did a quick cold start and idle video to show how well the engine runs and is set up:
