1951 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe ConvertibleThere were 8 distinct body styles available in 1951, he hardtop, oupe and convertible were only available in deluxe trim and they rode on a 120" wheelbase chassis. This Pontiac was just fully restored with a 12 volt electrical conversion. This 268 CID straight 8 Flat-head starts up instantly and idles so quietly that you can hardly tell it's running. The Hydra-Matic transmission was completely rebuilt and shifts as smoothly as it did in 1951, hen it was new. It has 15 inch Coker wide-whitewall tires and classic wire wheels. All the gauges work, owever the gas gauge is more of an estimate then an accurate reading. The suspension has been redone with new shocks, ing pins, ear coils and new rear shackles. Also new are gas tank, ater pump, lternator, ll bulbs and lights, lectric fuel pump,(inline to just prime the tank if needed, ot hooked up). I have incorporated a new AM/FM radio that sounds great with speakers under the front seat. The original AM tube radio did work and goes with the car, t will bolt right back in place because I did not modify the dash at all. The convertible top is in nice condition with a new 12 volt electric motor, new hydraulic lines and new cylinders. I am a retired classic car restorer and had a blast with this Pontiac. This car is a sweet driving time capsule. It's now time to sell her and go on to the next project. I may consider a partial trade if it's an interesting project. Please ask all the questions before you bid, know this car inside and out. The car is in South Florida and can be seen by appointment. Thanks for looking.......
