ORIGINAL, N-RESTORED, 5% UN-ALTERED, N-MODIFIED 1967 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX CONVERTIBLE WITH COMPLETE HISTORY FROM NEW.. DESIRABLE FACTORY OPTIONS INCLUDE: 428, /C, LUG WHEELS, amp; AM/FM W/ PWR ANTENNA. I bought this car from the original owner in April of 1976. The car was purchased new in Memphis TN. and has remained in the areaever since. It has never been left out from under some sort of cover for any length of time since new or since I bought it. I have a good copy of the original build sheet found under the carpet as well as matching documentation from The Pontiac Historical Society that I purchased years ago. The only discrepancy on the paperwork is the engine code. The documentation shows engine code XJ which is for the 400, 50hp, P engine, ut it does, nd always has had a 428. This was not discovered until the engine developed a slight knock at 106,000 miles in 1988 and I had it pulled for a total rebuild. When I was told it had 4 bolt mains and the rest of the specs showed it to be a 428, had it built back to factory 428 H.O. specs.I don't know much about internal engine specs, ut it has all the H.O. guts including awindage traywhich the meticulous rebuilder said he had trouble finding. I didn't have the extra cash to replace the intake and add the factory headers, o he re-jetted the Carter AFB to compensate. That was only 24,000 miles ago. It runs real strong and will still grab a good 2nd gear even with the very low ratiohiway gear, pprox. a 243:1 that came out of a Ventura. That is about the only thing not original other than replaced components, rakes, lternator, tc. The transmission will leak down 1 pint after sitting for a couple of weeks, utshifts perfectly. As far as the rest of the car, ccording to the original owner,it was ina minor sideswipe accident when it was less than a year old and the whole car was repainted at that time in 1968 and is original andunrestored as I bought it in 1976. It does need a rear bumper. The original is solid but is pulled out at the bottom an has un-original tailpipe holes in it. The car does need a complete cosmetic restoration. The top cover itself is in excellent shape and functions fine as well as the headlight covers. Anything that appears to be missing in the pictures, nterior pieces, rim, /C compressoretc., have. The A/C was never hooked back up after the engine rebuild and the easily accessible heater core was by passed when it developed a leak several years ago. I have records for all the once a year, qt. Pennzoil oil and filter changes which rarely went over 500 miles since the engine rebuild, s well as periodic synthetic brake fluid flushes. The tires have less than 3000 miles and show no deterioration and have never lost air, ut were installed, n 2000, o probably not road worthy for a longhiway trip.
