This auction is for a 1972 Plymouth Fury 3 wagon, Custom Suburban. I purchased this wagon a few years ago and have made a number of improvements under my ownership. These are pretty rare Mopars to begin with and I thought this was a good example. Its equipped with a 360(I believe its original to the car). It now has a 4bbl Carb, factory electronic ignition, custom headers, dual exhaust and added factory hood scoops( as found on Super Bee, Coronet RT models). Its also equipped with factory type hood pins, and vintage Cibie driving lights. As my goal was to create a full sized, vintage wagon that would handle well, I also added factory sway bars front and rea, over sized(larger than the Hemi size) front torsion bars, Koni shocks and 17" Hurst wheels with Z rated high performance, Tiger Paw Uniroyal tires. As part of my refresh, I had new front disc brake calipers fitted, all new brake lines(hard and flexible), new master cylinder and performance brake pads. I also rebuilt the entire front suspension(tie rods, ball joints, etc) and had the tires speed balanced and filled with Nitrogen.I commissioned a set of billet, hub-centric wheel spacers and a front shock tower brace and new wheel studs. This Fury wagon goes down the highway very well and doesn't embarrass itself when the road begins to curve.
As far as I can tell, this wagon has most of it's original gold paint. It has new carpet, seat covers and headliner. It is also equipped with a reproduction "Tuff" rally steering wheel and Challenger sport mirrors(the driver side is remote adjusting). A modern stereo head unit(with Bluetooth) was installed along with upgraded speakers. There is an original, vintage Sun tach on the column and two additional gauges under the dash that monitor water temp and oil pressure. Dual exhaust exits at the rear bumper. This vintage Fury wagon drives very well, hold great oil pressure and does not overheat in traffic. It is a unique classic that can take everyone to the car show. The rear tail gate opens two ways and the rear window is power. All of the gauges, horn, lights, etc seem to function well as do the windshield wipers and driving lights.I have the factory build sheet(was found in the driver door) and a clear, current registration California title.Issues? Not many. The original paint seems to have been touched up in a number of places-most notably the upper rear fender area. There are numerous minor scrapes, dings chips consistent with its age. I can see no sign of prior accident damage and the Fury appears to retain its original body panels. There are minor scrapes, pits, ect in some areas of the chrome and trim.
The wagon will come with it's original rally wheels(along with the performance wheels shown) and stock mirrors. This cool, vintage Mopar is ready to enjoy now and always creates a stir at Cars & Coffee events and drives-every body seems to have an old wagon story and enthusiasts are surprised to see how well it drives.
Here's a chance to have a truly unique vehicle. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
