Car description

This 1964 Plymouth Savoy Lightweight SS/A Hemi is a tribute to the rare lightweight examples Plymouth sold a mere 55 units back in '64. So finding an original one is six-figure process even before restoration. Instead, this example just underwent a painstaking nut & bolt restoration around 900 miles ago â€" making it one of the cleanest classics we have seen. So it's already a beautiful machine before you dig into the brutal 628 horsepower 426ci V8 with all the... proper Super Stock trimmings. The body is beautifully finished in white â€" part of the understated appearance of these mega machines. But the glow of the new clearcoat paint is unmistakable. This is the product of a careful and professional work by Muscle Car Restoration. There's a meticulous attention to detail that can be seen in everything from the panel gaps to the chrome trim that has been expertly polished to a mirror-like shine. This is a painstakingly accurate appearance, right down to the dog dish wheel covers â€" and this correctness is essential. The Savoy was a budget car when new, and so the lack of extra trim/weight made them a great place to start with the Super Stock performance package. So it takes time to get it looking like a crisp gentleman's classic. Of course, the large hood scoop, period-correct stickers, and wider rear tires are something every NHRA and Mopar fan instantly recognizes and gravitates towards. The Savoy lightweight fans also know these kept their true aggression the inside â€" that's why this has the correct bright red interior. There is a freshness inside that instantly conveys the time and money spent on this car. This is not just about restoring the major pieces like the bucket seats, carpets, and door panels, but also this includes the little things that really make the difference like lightweight seat mounts. While the Savoy was a fine family car, the lightweights live up to their name by eliminating any unnecessary bulk. With a deleted radio, dome light, heater, rear window cranks, and even the back seat â€" this is pure performance motoring. It does correctly retain the cool push-button transmission. The original gauge package is supplemented by a large Sun Super Tach mounted on the dash. Also within eyesight is a period-correct Stewart-Warner auxiliary readout package with oil, water, and battery. All of this is a good indication that there is an exceptional motor worth keeping you constantly updated. Under the hood is a sight that makes Mopar fans weak in the knees. The 426 cubic-inch Hemi V8 is a true juggernaut, and this one is ready to show off. With so much put into the restoration, and so few miles on the build, it's hard to find a cleaner and meaner presentation. Everyone gets a great view of all the correct pieces, like the Hemi race heads and correct dual Holley four-barrel carburetors. Plus, it has upgrades like an electronic ignition and TTI headers. That why it fires up easily while also producing a thunderous growl of superiority. And its dominance is assured with the full package rated at 628 horsepower. Getting this power to the ground means the right components. So you get the correct and strong Torqueflite 727A three-speed transmission with a reverse valve body â€" which is correct spec. This feeds a stout Dana 60 rear end before sending the pavement-eating power to the road. The sale comes with the build receipts, service manuals, owner's manual, and dyno sheet to prove the huge power of this mighty machine. Take a look at the undercarriage on this one and you'll see why it's quite possibly one of the best all-around classics in existence. Don't miss you chance, call today!
