Car description |
---|
I've owned this Valiant for about ten years and had a blast driving around L.A. with my kids, going on car rallies, driving in parades, and all that. With family medical bills looming it's time to let someone else have fun now. This is a factory V8 car, tastefully optioned with a power top, power steering, floor shifter, and even the rare “sport” steering wheel. When the previous owner rebuilt the 283 c.i. motor he bored it out to 318 c.i. Otherwise the driveline is box stock. Having V8 power makes my Valiant an effortless, perky driver. It's not especially fast, but has great grunt off the line.
Like most vintage convertibles there is some rust damage. The floors are fine but there is a bit of bubbling here and there, and the trunk floor is, well, not so great. With the trunk closed the car Looks awesome though.
Mechanically my car is pretty well sorted out and ready for thousands more fun miles. There are some small electrical issues to take care of, like the horn, and a few instrument lights. The speedometer cable appears to be broken as well. Since this is a 50 year old car many parts are a bit worn, such as door hinges and such, but it's all there and a great driver.
The shifter is not correct but doesn't both me. The car comes with the original though so it can be put back to stock.
The upholstery is slightly faded but there are no rips and the seat cushions are nice and firm.
New parts in the last few thousand miles:
convertible top
power top hydraulics (pump, lines and cylinders)
convertible top frame restored
tires (cheap Firestones but that's all I could find in the right size)
wheel bearings
brake cylinders and shoes
rebuilt automatic transmission
some front suspension parts
heater core
radiator
electronic voltage regulator
rebuilt carburetor
Spare parts included:
instrument cluster with all gauges
speedometer cable
original Signet wheel well trim
original Signet front grill emblem
original floor shifter assembly
set of horns
reproduction arm rests
