Car description |

1977 Plymouth Volare: solid body, strong engine and good tires.
The body is rust free with 37,562 original miles. I bought the car in 2008 with 34,960 miles from, who I believe, was the third owner. I have the Chrysler Plymouth dealer’s bill of sale to its original owner.
I’ve powder coated the bumpers and all the trim that was chrome with the exception of the grill (plastic), tail light bezels, badges and gas cap. The car was hit in the rear quarter while parked resulting in a fender-bender and was professionally repaired. I tried unsuccessfully to do a rattle-can paint job on a few small (1”) dings in the driver’s side back door.
The interior is clean with a recovered and powder coated dash, Grant steering wheel, complement of Auto Meter gauges (oil, water, volt and tach), Jegs starter button, Sony stereo CD/radio, and B&M Megashifter. The upholstery is still in very good condition with the following exceptions: it’s missing 5 buttons, requires a small amount of stitching on some of the trim and the headrest on the driver’s side is discolored and appears to have been exposed to a chemical and/or sunlight.
The door panels, felt weather stripping and rubber gaskets around the doors are in very good to excellent condition with one exception, a 1” tear at the bottom of the driver’s side front door panel.
The car runs well, very well. I replaced the slant 225 6 cylinder engine with a 318 V8 (#M318R3293106 stamp) and TorqueFlite transmission from an early 70s’ Dodge Charger. Also replaced: distributor, alternator, starter motor and water pump, Champion 3 core aluminum radiator, Edelbrock 600 CFM carb, K&N Extreme air filter, Edelbrock Performer manifold, Mopar valve covers, Schumacher motor mounts, Patriot street rod headers, and dual exhaust system with Flowmaster 44s.
The car comes with 2 sets of rims and tires: (summer) 2 - BF Goodrich T/A 215/60R15 radials and 2 – BF Goodrich T/A 245/60R15 radials (mounted at 35,468 miles) on 4 Jegs Baja 8 steel rims + (winter storage) original steel rims with dog dish hubcaps and tires.
Also included is the original owner’s manual, receipts, Cover Craft car cover, and box of miscellaneous parts.
The car has been garaged since I bought it, never driven in the Winter and only once caught in the rain. I took on another project car that is now the focus of my attention and resources. If I had the garage space I would keep the car without a second thought.
The car is being sold as is. It can be picked up without charge. The cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If needed, I can help with arrangements for transport. Thanks for your interest and don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
