I have a 1953 Plymouth Cambridge four door sedan. The car starts right up and purrs quietly. It does retain the six volt system and I recently put in a new ignition as well as an electric fuel pump. It is actually pretty dependable for as old as it is and has never failed to start for me. It has strong brakes and I drive it at least once a week around the neighborhood or to the store. The body is in fair condition. no major body damage but it does have some rust issues. The outer body has rust through the kick panels. it seems to be localized to that area (can send pictures) but the hood. trunk lid and most fenders are pretty solid. The floor boards will probably need attention with the drivers side being the worst. There is rust through pretty bad on the drivers floor pan that would need to be replaced if you plan to drive it regularly. The back is in decent shape as well as the passenger. the trunk floor is similar to the back floor panel. Some rust but no real rust through like the drivers floor. I placed a sturdy mat under the carpet while I drove it and that seemed to work out fine. The interior is fair also. no rips in the seats or major dash pieces missing. It will need a new headliner to be nice but it did not bother me being bare as it is now. The head lights and tail lights come on and the windshield wipers work as well. The horn honks and the dash lights come on also. I am not certain what instruments work and which do not. I know the speedometer works and I am pretty sure the temp gauge works also. It has never run hot on me nor have I had any major mechanical problems. All doors and hatches open and all as they should and the glass is all there. the windshield does have a crack as well as a corner on the drivers glass but the way they are shaped. so square they should be easily replaceable. The chrome is all in good shape and I have a few of the trim pieces as well as the original rear view mirror. At some point someone painted the car with a dark metallic with a bit of glimmer. In the sun it actually glows a little bit. It looks good from 20 feet away easily. but probably needs to be repainted. The car is 62 years old and other than paint and some minor things its fairly original. It gets plenty of attention and is fun to drive. but by no means a show car. I would imagine who ever buys this is looking for a running and driving project that they can put some love into. I bought it to have as a Sunday cruiser for the family that I could spruce up. but plans have changed and we need to sell. With a little work this car could be a cool rat rad or definitely an attention grabber in front of a business or restaurant. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to let me know.
