Car description

1968 Barracuda Formula S 340, One of One with Rear Shoulder Harnesses, One of Two with the non-recommended option combination of a 4 speed and Factory A/C, and though it was ordered with virtually every other option available on a Barracuda that year, it is One of Two ordered without a Radio. Other options include Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Deluxe Interior, Rear Defroster, Rally Dash with Factory Tach, Sport Steering Wheel, Trip Odometer, Emergency Flasher, Deluxe Wheel Covers, Front and Rear Bumper Guards, Formula S heavy duty suspension, Sure Grip 3.23 Differential, and Variable Speed Windshield Wipers. It is One of One with this Option combination.
This car was purchased from the original owner, an engineer in Los Angeles, where it spent its entire life until it came to Phoenix. He kept voluminous records including all relevant documents concerning the car's purchase and maintenance which are partially pictured here.
The Barracuda received a visual inspection from MOPAR expert Galen Govier in its matching numbers, survivor condition, attesting to its originality and completeness. It was, however, driven over 150K miles by then and so needed restoration, which it received bringing it to its present #1 condition. The engine was professionally rebuilt to stock specs, as was the transmission. All chrome and stainless was redone, the suspension, steering gear and pump, wiring, switches, brake calipers, power booster and master cylinder were rebuilt or replaced. Only the carburetor is not stock (an Edelbrock ) but I have the AVS from the original owner). Unlike many restorations, the mechanicals received at least equal attention and it drives and runs like new, with all systems working as they should.
The restoration process is chronicled in an article in Hemmings Muscle Car Magazine in the March 2006 issue, and the car also appears in their 2017 calendar for February.
This car is unique among second generation Barracudas and is an investment quality vehicle that has been driven weekly and is totally road-worthy. Contact me with any questions, Jeff 480-982-4555.
