Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. So many of us grew up watching Looney Tunes and like most kids, I always loved the Road Runner cartoons the most. There was always something so funny and exciting to watch him outsmart the hapless Coyote with his effortless speed. Leave it to Chrysler, and especially Plymouth, to take a Satellite and actually have the audacityto turn it intoa full blown musclecar named after a cartoon character! That's exactly what we have here. Thiscar was born a 1969 Sport Satellite, and was turned into one of the most famous and iconic cars to ever leave Detroit. Beep! Beep!......here comesthe Road Runner!
Let's start with the drivetrain. This one is equipped with thepowerful big block 383 cubic inch engine with 335 horsepower. It's backed by the venerable 727 Torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission. The car simply runs like a top. It has no issues whatsoever. Just hop in, turn the key, and enjoy yourself! There are no noises, no leaks, no smoke. It runs cool, with optimal oil pressure. There is a folder full of paperwork showing the work done to the engine over the years. It is equipped with headers and a full dual stainless steel exhaust with the correct square tips under the rear bumper. The car sounds just exactly right. It purrs down the road at 70mphwith a deep rumble that is just enough to let everyone know you are driving a legend. There are no rattles or squeaks. It soaks up the bumps with confidence. The brakes work flawlessly. All lights, gauges, switches, and knobs are in perfect working order. This is a low-mileage, reliable machine. This car is a true joy to drive, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere, anytime.
The interior is a real surprise. There are subtle upgrades that most people would never notice, but that make it a much more enjoyable place to be on long rides. The original blackvinyl seats have been re-covered with black tweed inserts on the seating surfaceswith vinyl trim, so you won't be sticking to hot vinyl in the summer. There is a custom console mounted between the front bucket seats, so you have a great arm rest, a place to store your change and CD's, and best of all, cup holders! There is a modern am/fm/CD player in the dash that worksgreat. The result of these upgrades is an interior that is much more modern, comfortable and convenient....but still retains the classic look of the original 1969 design. The best part? The famous "BEEP! BEEP!" Road Runner horn, of course!
The exterior of this Road Runner is where the car really shines, both figuratively and literally! The car is finished in Chrysler code R4 Bright Red....and it is definitely bright! The paint on the car is about as close to flawless as you will find. I wouldratethe paint and bodya 10, and I don't give out that number very often. There are no chips, no dents, and no scratches. Period. The car is solid as a rock underneath. No patches, and no rust, ever. Period. The body is lazer straight, and the paint looks like a flawless, deep, red mirror. With a color that bright, you need an accent color to break it up, and thankfully this car was done as an A-12 tribute car, with theoutrageous flat black fiberglass lift-off hood, and the menacing black steel wheels with chrome lugs. These are 15 X 9 wheels, with 255/60/15's on the front and fat 275/60/15's on the back. The chrome and stainless on the car is flawless. The emblems and decals are perfect as well. The beautiful vinyl top completes the look, and is enhanced by the hardtop roof, because of the timeless, uninterrupted lines of the car. This one is stunning!
