Car description |
---|
Interior is a Black bucket seat 4 speed console interior. The front buckets and rear seat are in good shape. The dash is in good shape, but there is a crack. Included in the sale is a brand new dash cap. The interior isn't perfect, but it's in decent condition. Get in and have fun! There's a ton of pictures of the interior too after thisdescription.
The 440 was built out, but is not the original motor. It runs very strong. This Road Runner is a fun to drive! The trans is an 883 4 speed manual with a close ratio Hurst Pistol Grip shifter. The trans was also rebuilt less than 4k miles ago. The rear is a 8 and 3/4's rear set up with a low cruising gear of 3.23. So, this Mopar is currently set up for cruises and drives. But with a change of the rear gear this 440 4 speed can be ready for the street and strip.
The previous owner is a Mopar/Road runner collector. He owned this car for 15 plus years. He's owned Challengers, GTX's, Dusters, Chargers, etc... This was his local car show/cruise car. There are three very small dents in the upper corner of the hood from one of the trophies falling on it while in their garage. Those dents are shown below. The exhaust just shook one of the trophies off the shelf. He set the Road Runner up with green LED show lights for night time cruises and car shows. The LED's are in the engine bay and around the car. There are pictures of the Road Runner lit up at night after the description.
Previous owner stated that the 440 engine was a late to mid 70's Warlock 440 Mopar big block, he and his father rebuilt the engine less than 4,000 miles ago. The motor is punched 40 over. The crank is cut at 10:30 thousandths. The motor was decked and shaved creating that nice port and polished block heads. It was built with the hardened seats for the new gas, and has a 509 racing cam with a 484 duration lift. Even though the engine and trans were rebuilt some time ago, the previous owner states that they have less than 2000 miles on them. This was their classicmuscleto take to the local car shows. When the engine was rebuilt all compression tests where done and checked out correctly. The previous owner also stated the engine dynoed at over 550 hp. He took great pride in the knowledge that both he and his father had regarding their passion for Mopars, and the building of performancedrive-trains.
Thecarburetoris a 1968 780 double pump Holley. The dual exhaust is a 3 inch with the correct style machine gun tips. It has all new power steering pump, alternator, battery, high torque mini starter, and a new water pump. It also has a new stronger racing yolk on the rear with the long U-bolts. They also put a new shift pack and new shift rods in it from Brewers performance, and new spicer U-joints as well. Trans also had a new brute center force clutch, throw out bearings, and flywheel resurfaced during the rebuild. There's some othermiscellaneousparts like a shifter boot and tach pictured to be installed. There's a couple of videos of this 440 4 speed running after this description.
Factory Mopar ralley wheels have new center caps, and are wrapped in brand new Super Sport Radials. They give this Road Runner that nostalgic look, and are also great to burn a little rubber with like it's back in the day.
As stated before, this car was owned by a Road Runner collector! It maintains it's solid structure with a decent driver quality. Pictured is every body panel individually so you can see for yourself. In my opinion the frame, floors, and trunk are all very solid. The trunk floor is solid, but there was some moisture under the dynamat which did cause only surface rust. This is also pictured after the description. The body is also pretty solid too in my opinion. The two areas that could use some attention in time are the lower portion of the rear doors and the lower portion of the front of the quarter panels after the doors. There are pictures of each body panel for you to get a good understanding of the Road Runner. It's a nice rider, and all aspects are shown in all the pictures provided. Please review all pictures, videos, and ask for more if needed, and/or come and see this classic before bidding on this '72 Plymouth Road Runner 440 4 speed. The Road Runner decals along the rocker panels and rear valance are only decals, so they can be simply removed.
Bottom lineis that this a Real 1972 Plymouth Road Runner 4 speed in that 70's high impact yellow with Black Bucket Seats and console that is an awesome driver that looks good and drives great. It does have some signs of age like chips and small dents, but again this is a Driver. Get in, shift out some gears, and cruise!
Unfortunately, there is no Fender Tag. The vin does decode to be an original 1972 Road Runner 400 car. The build sheet may be in the rear seat since it looks to be original.
