Car description |
---|
When the current owner purchased this car, it was a 383 Magnum, 4 Speed, 3.23 Sure-Grip 8-3/4 and was a very nice, numbers matching driver. Originally B5 Blue with Black DeLuxe Interior, it had been repainted Rolls Royce Brooklands Green. The car was straight, solid and had a nice appearance. However, the 383 just didn't scratch the itch. So the owner and his son sat down and made a wish list...and then proceeded to do EVERYTHING on it. The result is a scienced out, bullet-proof car built to be driven hard and enjoyed.
The engine is a bored and stroked 440, now 505 Cubic inches. It's equipped with a full compliment of Indy Cylinder Head components: Aluminum Heads, Intake Manifold, Roller Rockers, Valve Covers and Valley Cover. The Cam is a Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller with 549/544 Lift, 292/300 Duration. Pistons are 4.35" bore Wiseco Forged 10-1. The rotating assembly, purchased from Ohio Crankshafts, incuded a Forged Steel 4.25" Stroker Crank and H-Beam Forged Rods. The block was fitted with cross-bolted main caps and align bored. The block was also squared, and the engine was blueprinted and balanced.
The 505 was on the dyno 3 times with changes made along the way, including a camshaft change and different pistons to up the compression. Even though they looked great, a switch from a dual quad set-up to a single 4 barrel was also done. It was then tuned until a final output of 690 HP and 730 Lbs/Ft Torque was achieved. The best numbers were made with the single Pro-Systems 1000 CFM calibrated 4bbl carb and Indy 4bbl intake that are now on it. The Indy 2X4 intake and dual Edelbrock carbs it started with actually made 45 less HP.
The transmission is a custom built Tremec Close Ratio TKO 600, purchased as a complete 5 speed conversion kit from Keisler Engineering. This kit included the TKO 600 5 speed trans, a Billet Flywheel, Titanium/Aluminum Bellhousing, a SPEC Stage 3 Clutch, Crossmember, hydraulic components and a 1200 lb/ft rated custom driveshaft. The Tremec's ratios are: 2.87, 1.89, 1.34, 1.0 and .64. The Tremec was also fitted with a Pistol-Grip Shifter Handle.
The rear end is a complete Moser Engineering built Dana 60 with 3.73 gears, a Detroit Locker, Moser Axles and Girdle style rear cover .
In addition to the installation of a pair of Frame Connectors, Chassis upgrades include New: Heavy Duty Torsion Bars, Heavy Duty Leaf Springs, Shackles, Tubular Stainless Upper Control Arms, Stainless Tie Rods, Stainless Strut Rods, Manual Steering Box, Heavy Duty front and rear Sway Bars, and KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks. The entire front end is new: all ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, the pitman arm and the idler arm have been replaced. Urethane bushings were used throughout. To prevent wheel-hop, a "Ground Pounder" anti wheel-hop system was installed in the rear. All items were purchased from Just Suspension.
Wilwood 12.19" Disc Brake Rotors and 4 Piston Calipers are at all 4 corners, actuated by a Wilwood Master Cylinder. All the brake lines have been replaced with Stainless Steel lines. Braided Stainless Steel brake hoses were used as well. The Emergency Brake utilizes the rear calipers.
The Exhaust System starts with 2-1/8" Tube Technologies headers and a Tube Technologies 3" system all the way back, through an X-Pipe, Dual Stainless QTP Electric Cut-Outs and Dynamax Mufflers to a pair of 3" Tube Technologies Stainless tips.
The wheels are 17X9" Cragar SS for an updated old-school look, with brand new Nitto NT-450 Extreme Performance tires- 255 50 17" up front and 275 50 17" on the rear. The rear tires are just under 28" tall.
The build is about 5 years old and it has only been street driven, never raced, for approximately 1000 trouble free miles. Also, the car could be returned to stock with hand tools. It was NOT permanently modified in any way.
The reserve price is less than 50% of the cost of this build. If the auction only meets the reserve price, you get only the car as you see it.
For the BUY-IT-NOW price you get everything. Along with the car, you would also get the entire original numbers matching 383 magnum 4 speed drivetrain, the original radiator, suspension and drum brake systems, the original steel hood and the Indy dual quad set-up with both Edelbrock carbs.
If it sells anywhere in between, the extras above are negotiable.
