1968 Plymouth Satellite Sport Convertible
I am selling this vehicle for my brother who bought this car locally 14 years ago in 2001. I need this out of my barn. Clear title in hand.
There were only 1,523 V8 Satellite Convertibles produced in 1968.
The car has a 383 4 barrel - numbers on bottom of engine are on the pictures attached. 2468130-9 LL this does correspond with a 383.
Numbers stamped on top of block by distributer read D383 with the numbers 4 16 underneath that. There is no vin stamped on this plate and have been told that that is not unusual in 1968.
My brother supposedly bought the car from the second owner who told him that this was the original engine and that he had bought it off the original owner in Decatur Illinois. That gentleman then made this his first major car project and repainted the car and put a new top on it. My brother bought it from him.
I cannot tell you this is the original engine and can't guarantee it is or isn't., ut he was told it was. You do the research and come see the car if you wish.
I cannot confirm any of this but can only tell you what I have found.
The car has a 1968 383 Mopar Engine in it.
The build plate is also attached and decoded, you can see plate in an attached photo.
The original build plate decodes as this:
CAR: Plymouth Satellite 2-door Convertible
ENGINE: 383Cid 4-Bbl HP V8
TRANSMISSION: 3-Speed Automatic
TIRES: F70X14 White Side Wall, teel belted
BUILD DATE: May 18
AXLE: 3.23 Rear Axle Ratio
ETC, you can read the decode in picture and also perform yourself online.
Car starts runs and drives great.
Tires in decent condition.
Carpet in good condition.
Seats in good condition with the exception of a slight ¼ inch tear in driver seat, oor armrest has tear, love box won't stay latched, can't tell you if radios work or not. Knob missing from driver window crank.
Convertible top in great shape, eplaced 8 years ago but needs physical help assisting up and down when you push the button.
Rear windows also needs help when you manually crank them up and down.
The color is obviously not the original silver shown in the decoded build plate and I would consider the paint job a ""driver paint job"" at best with some bubbling and issues and by no means a show car. I would grade it a 4 of 10 just to be safe.
Wheels all have rust on them now from sitting in his shed and my barn.
Bumpers, hrome and emblems are showing rust and age and no longer show but "driver" quality.
I would encourage any interested buyer make a visit and see car and climb all over and under it if you want. Reserve is appropriate and car will sell at auctions end to the highest bidder.
Please send a message if you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment.
This is a binding sale and if you do not haveeBayhistory or a good rating please contact me before bidding, hanks.
Auction ends Sunday Oct 31st and I will be back in townWednesdayevening that week, o pick-up will be after that.
Vehicle is AS-IS with no warranty.
Thanks,
Bob
