Car description

Prior buyer did not honor his agreement and tried to renegotiate terms without seeing the car, so I rejected his counter offers and this car is up for sale again. The car has not been available for viewing until last month, because I had to have it shipped to my new home in Utah. It is now available for inspection and is beautiful.
Rare 1936 Packard 120 B Touring Sedan, Straight 8 Engine and many rare factory luxury options. We have meticulously maintained and spared no expense or effort to keep this special historic vehicle to near perfect original factory condition. This Packard's 282 cubic inch straight eight engine runs with the precision of a finely balanced and blueprinted power-train, and its design simplicity makes maintenance and repairs simple. The body, undercarriage and interior are also in remarkably pristine condition. This car even has its original engine compartment dust shrouds that one rarely ever sees on surviving models today. Virtually every bolt is in near perfect, rust free, original condition and the car is mechanically sound. This unique Packard with its rare factory luxury options was featured on the front cover of the 96 Cormorant Packard Magazine with a full write up about this special car.
The rare luxury options seldom found on this 36 Packard 120 B Touring Sedan include the iconic over-sized fog lamps, dual beam headlights, side mounted spare wheels with hard body covers, pair of side mounted and spare wheel mounted rearview mirrors, a cat's eye style glove box cigarette lighter, with wood trimmed cigarette box trays in the front and rear passenger areas, rare Jaeger Swiss Watch Co interior glove box clock in excellent working condition, luxury soft wool overstuffed seats, fine wood trimmed interior, chrome Packard insignia threshold step guards, AM radio, turn signal blinker and hazard light switch with front and rear turn signal lights, and the chrome fold down touring luggage rack.
Packard represented the finest and most reliable American Luxury Pre-War automotive engineering and technology of its day, and was universally revered as the Premier Luxury Vehicle, only to be rivaled by the English Rolls Royce. Many of the innovations and technologies used in the automotive industry today were designed into this early Packard luxury car, including the modern steering wheel, an independent front wheel suspension, a robust and stable carriage and suspension support system designed to dampen travel vibrations, hydraulic adjustable shock absorbers, vacuum regulated carburetor, advanced ignition timing controls, and a four-wheel hydraulic brake system. Packard also manufactured for its cars, the fastest, most powerful, high performance automotive engines that money could buy and these early 30's model Packard's could travel at speeds over 70 mph.
What gave Packard its renowned as an American Luxury Car was its unique styling and body design, and impressive stately look. The elongated engine compartment and round streamlined, full wheel well fenders, over-sized 16" wheels with over-sized whitewall bias ply tires, and extra-long interior passenger compartment with wide carriage side step boards, classic suicide style, reverse opening rear doors, over sized headlight and fog lamps, and the dramatic tall chrome grill with large flying goddess hood ornament give this Packard Luxury car a unique iconic look that other manufacturers only tried to emulate. Although the 36 Packard has an unusually long dramatic appearance, the convenient abbreviated trunk compartment with folding luggage rack allow this car to be parked in a standard single car garage stall or parking space.
Our family has owned, loved and carefully maintained this beautiful historic car for many years, but circumstances in our family have justified selling this national automotive treasure. Although we have invested tens of thousands into the maintenance and restoration of this car, we are offering it for sale at an excellent price of $48,000 obo.
The car is available for viewing and inspection and we have documentation, maintenance records, mechanic's references and history for this car. I also have the original owner's manual and complete factory service shop manuals, and parts supply catalogsfor this car, together with the 96 Cormorant Magazine in which this special car was featured. Surprisingly, parts are readily available and affordable for this historic car. The Odometer works and the car has 22,987 total miles on the car.
