Just finished! Complete frame-off $200,000 restoration. This matching numbers XK120 Fixed Head Coupe is without question the finest in the world, period.
It has never been shown or seen by the general public.
Painted in its original factory Dove Grey with red Connelly leather, it is beyond stunning. Full documentation and Heritage Certificate accompany the car.
It is very fast and after the engine rebuild was rated at 135 mph. Full on engine rebuild was performed by PHP RaceEngines in Wauconda, IL. Restoration performed by Bach Racecraft of Verona, WI.
Its debut will be at the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan in July. Invitation goes to the new owner.
Although called Dove Grey, the car is not grey at all as you can see from the photos. The original paint under the dash, in the door panels, and behind the deck lid on the rear were left alone and were used to exactly match the color you see today. The paint job is flawless and is an original single stage, just like it was 66 years ago. This is truly a 100 point car! Of the 127 classic cars I have owned, nothing compares to the perfection of this car.
For every seven XK120’s they made, only one was a Fixed Head Coupe; and fewer yet were ever ordered in Dove Grey. Even the hand written “XK120” in wax is still on the side of the petrol tank. So even though the tank was refurbished inside and sealed, this side panel was left untouched per my instruction.
In the 50 years that the previous owned possessed the car, he only drove it 5 times. Otherwise it was stored inside a heated building. When I found the car, there was absolutely no rust anywhere. This was a true time capsule.
The car still retains its factory translucent lavender sun visors. And the hood[bonnet] emblem is original, not a reproduction. In fact, everything is original on this car, just rebuilt, repainted or restored. It has a battery shut-off switch and still retains its original factory dual Lucas battery covers. Both batteries are brand new.
Every single nut and bolt was carefully cataloged and then plated back to new condition. Literally thousands of fasteners all went back on the car just as they were taken off. A remarkable feat.
Absolutely every aspect of this correct is correct. From the carpet and leather, to the door panels, headliner and trunk mat. This was a no-expense spared 5 year restoration.
After the engine rebuild, it was dyno’d for 5 straight hours and then driven 290 miles over 4 months to break in the motor and sort everything else mechanical. The veneering on the dash and door panels is a piece of art. It comes complete with a tool roll, owner’s manual and correct Smith’s jacking system. All five tires are of course brand new. The steering wheel is new with the center cap being original. All of the instruments have been professionally rebuilt and work accurately. The awesome and original orange ignition coil and condenser was put in at the dealer in 1955 and remains there today. The dual air cleaner canister is the original. The wiring harness is also brand new, and the wiper motor rebuilt. The correct dual SU fuel pump is visible in the undercarriage photos, as well as the leather wrapped suspension[gators]. All of the factory glass, with the exception of the windshield is original; even the domed rear window.
Again, this is the finest example of a XK120 FDC you will ever see, in certainly one of the rarest colors on a Jaguar ever offered.
I have the best private car hauler in the business, who is at my disposal for transport to your home. I only own the finest cars on earth, and this Jaguar ranks in that category.
