Car description |
---|
This is a AM General M998 HMMWV built in 1986 and is part of the 1999 Government auction released to the public where you can get a title for on road driving. (VIN #009068) Yes, this HMMWV has a clear GA (Georgia) title for on-road civilian use and is easily transferable to other states since it has an existing title. This is a 6.2 engine with about 28K miles, it is a 4-man soft top, with about 96% tread left on the tires. The tires were brand new and put on just 3 years ago, but I have only driven it maybe 300 miles since then, they still have the little nipples on them. Since I have had some work done on it over the last 6 years I have not had any oil leakage.
WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE
- Brand new radiator was put in 4 years ago with all the fixings
- CV boots and axles were put on
- New Pitman Arm, Idler Arm and Radius Rod installed about 5 years ago
- New Tires purchased from Government auctions that have about 300 miles on them now
- Alignment was done 5 years ago, but I have only driven it maybe 800 miles since then
- Put on the rear bumper with the heavy flaps but still have all the original set up in a box
(I still have all the receipts for the work that has been done to it for all of these)
ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE
- The hood has about a 2" portion of it missing at the corner of the right front light. It also has 1 or 2 small spider cracks on the top and around the engine lifts, but these are very easy to repair as its fiber glass
- The old transfer case is cracked but has been epoxied
- 1 or 2 of the side light need to be repaired or replaced
EXTRAS THAT IT COMES WITH
- 6.5 GM engine still in the Government crate. I think it has 1500 miles to 2500 miles on it (pics attached)
- Brand new 242 Transfer case still in the case (pics attached)
- Used IBIS Tech Front Bumper that is in excellent shape and has already been repainted with CARC paint (pics attached). All of these items have been inside the garage, just a little dusty that's all.
- New drive shafts and the things it comes with (tall box in pic)
- A bunch of minor things such as new lights, new speedometer set up and all the items associated with it, the old tow hitch, new heavy-duty shock still in the box. Most or just about all these items were purchased from Kascar
- New 1.5 engine lift that I put together but never used once.
- New 5th tire still has plastic on it
This was a project car I purchased years ago to restore to its original glory but have not been able to work on for quite some time as my wife and I now have 4 kids so unfortunately, I'm going to have to part with it. I loved driving it and who knows, maybe in the future after the kids are in college I will be able to purchase another one.
