Sold by Cheston Eshelman,Baltimore,Md, as a second car for mom to go to the grocery store,it was advertised in the back of magazines like Popular Mechanics and boasted "70 miles per gallon !". There were 2 other sizes of cars, an electric ride on and the Child Sport car. Little more than a larger version of a child's gas powered toy car, few were sold and are very rare today. He also made boats, an airplane, garden tractors based on the adult sport car running gear, and bought Corvair, modified them with his own designed safety bumper device and sold them as Eshelman Golden Eagles. This car is more of a Restomod than a true restoration with original parts as the original pieces are extremely hard to find. Started with a body, original chassis plate, original steering tube, front axle and reproduction steering wheel. I used a Predator engine and various go-kart items to return it to a driveable state. Power is transmitted by a centrifugal clutch and belt to the rear to an original jack shaft support to a chain driving left rear wheel. Tires and wheels are new. Car measures 64 x 36 inches, to top of steering wheel is 36 inches. Front and rear are original castings. I had to make taillights as I could not fine the originals. Headlights and taillights work. A bit of a scrape on left front headlight ring. Gets lots of attention at car shows. Goes about as fast as the typical golf cart. Daytona Beach area. Local pick up preferred.
