Car description |
---|
I've owned this cabby for 9 years. I have all records since I've owned it, and it has been mechanically well maintained. For most service, it was taken to a VW mechanic in PA that specializes in mk1 cars.
I haven't driven it in three years, but start it regularly to keep it in good shape.
The good:
- It runs, drives, and stops.
- NO inspection or emissions testing required in NJ for cars pre-1995!
- 5 speed manual transmission
- It doesn't leak water to my knowledge
- Lowered on adjustable Raceland coilovers
- Convertible top mechanism works great
- Engine valve seals redone
- Tires are like new!
- Swapped in interior from 1993 Collectors Edition
- Canvas top (not vinyl!) but needs work
The bad:
- Has some rear end damage under the taillight (I have a replacement piece cut from a donor car)
- Tailgate will need to be replaced
- Paint bubbling on passenger side door
- Typical mk1 rust at bottom of the windshield
- Needs power window module and switches
- Front and rear bumpers could use some love
- Occasional creak from rear passenger side coilover.
- Small dent on front driver's side fender
- AC doesn't work
- Engine bay could use a good cleaning
It would be a good base for restoration, or potentially parts! Hoping to find it a good home.
Located in Manville NJ.
