Car description

1964 Chevrolet El Camino. This is a rust free (including smuggler's box, floors, and bed) vehicle that was in amazing condition before any work began. The paint is new and is far above driver level and shows very well.It has a 350 SB with a 400THM.Rear is a Ford 9" posi with Strange axles and Wilwood Ultra Lite calipers. The cost for the rear was over $4K alone. Front brakes are a later Chevelle disc kit.The car has essentially new everything - interior, wheels, tires, battery, alternator, starter, springs, shocks, etc.The interior has new Procar seats, carpets, door panels, dash bezel and on and on.The trim and chrome is in exceptional condition. The prior owner had the body gone over to prepare for paint and had over $12k invested when he sold it as a project. As you can see from the pictures this is not your average '64.

The car has been priced with a reasonable reserve, not because I'm a generous guy, but because the car has some issues and I've lost interest in it.When it came back from paint, the car has some large front rollers on it.I cut the wheel a little to hard guiding it into the garage and the tire pushed the left front fender back a hair.I didn't know it happened and found out when I opened the drivers door and it chipped the paint on the leading edge. Also, the right quarter had some dents that were worked as best they could, but there is a hairline filler crack. Not real big, but I know it's there. The only saving grace is black is black and can be spotted-in with having to blend anything - not a big deal, but it's frustrating. The car runs and drives but not how I had hoped. The engine has a skip or a vibration in it that I can't figure out what it is.It could be something simple, or not - don't know. Also, the car turns some serious rpms at higher speeds.I don't know if the 9" has a tall ratio, but I have a feeling it does. The brake booster was not replaced because it was thought to be good, but it's got a hole in the diaphragm.I have a new one in the box that comes with the car.The car has new kick panels with 200W speakers and I'm going to include a new modern "retro" radio kit, so the sound system can be completed.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch, but just hit the "contact seller" button to ask any questions you may have or if you need an additional photo of a specific area. This was going to be a high dollar car (at least that was the plan). If you have the mechanical background to finish this off, you'll have a show car for a heck of a lot less. While the reserve is far less than thetens of thousands invested, but it's not an $8K project either (you can have the paint for that lol). You can find a little lower priced project that needs everything, but in the end your investment will be FAR more than spending a little more upfront. The '64s are getting harder and harder to find, especially one that doesn't need extensive rust repair. Is this perfect? If it was it wouldn't be priced anywhere near where it is.This is a running, driving, essentially completed, RUST-FREE lifelong California car with thousands already spent - an opportunity like this rarely becomes available!

Study the pictures carefully and ASK ALL YOUR QUESTIONS prior to buying. This comes with a CLEAN / CLEAR CALIFORNIA TITLE IN MY NAME, and the title matches the VIN plate in the door jamb. In California this is not smog exempt - it is PRE-SMOG.It is currently registered and insured so there are no back fees due.
All transportation arrangements whether by carrier or any other means are the responsibility of the buyer. I will do everything on my end to assist your carrier in meeting their scheduling issues. For any overseas buyers, the car is approximately an hour from the Port of Los Angeles and should not present any problem for your broker to arrange easy transport and shipping to your location.
