Up for sale is a 1927 whippet. Leo Monnin Speedster. Leo was a mechanic at the gulf station. star route. meadsville Pa in 1932. . in 1946 he owned and operated Leo's race st garage on 1000 E. race st meadville PA. Leo retired in 1958. leo raced this speedster in 1936 and 1937 at the old meadville fairgrounds and rt 322 where the gordon brother water softener company is now. there used to a farm with a plowed dirt track behind it. Leo drove this speedster on the street until 1943. His best friend said in 1938 or 39 they had got in trouble with the law for scaring buckboard horses in town. they were told to drive that "yellow buggy" like normal men or don't bring it back out. Leos best friend said that he had only seen the car once in between 1943 and 1976 and that was at there victory day parade on September 1945.
