Description: This is a beautifully restored Trabant 601 Special. The paint. interior and underside are immaculate. The small two-door coupe has room for four passengers with more space than you would think. These German cars are not easy to find in the states. especially in this condition. This was East Germany’s response to West Germany’s VW. which was crowned as the “peoples car”. The 601 S is the special model. which has optional equipment like fog lamps. rear white light and an odometer. This is an incredible piece of history to own especially in this restored condition. Interior: The interior is in incredible condition. The brown vinyl and patterned cloth are an interesting combination and really sets this car apart from the standard Volkswagen of the time. The dash is clean simple with standard knobs for lights and wipers surrounding the speedometer. The stereo works well with the above deck speakers poking up in the rear. A different look for sure and definitely gives the car a unique trait. Exterior: The grey exterior has a great luster and really shines. This car is a real head turner as not many have seen one of these in real life. The wheels have a white wall trim attached so the tires look like real whitewalls. The fog lights in the front are only an option for the special version. There is also a special German badge fixed into the front grill. This is a very cool and unique little car with a great overall presence. Drivetrain: The two-stroke air cooled engine makes 27hp and 38 lb. ft. of torque.
