For sale is a gorgeous 1948 Diamond T pickup, restored to better than new condition, w/ some updates to make it more enjoyable to drive and a bit easier to live with. I am helping my neighbor to sell it. He loves the truck, but has other obligations that warrant it's sale. It is currently registered in his name, and can be viewed locally (located near mid-town Miami) at any time w/ reasonable notice. He has owned the truck for ~ 2 years and has driven it sparingly. i would estimate mileage since the restoration to be around 2-3,000 miles (could be less!)... the odometer shows 69,000. i have driven the truck several times and will list everything i know. I will also do my best to provide any additional information or photos that you may require. The truck is absolutely beautiful and i'm sure any buyer would not be disappointed. The photos will tell you most of what you need to know- here is the rest...
Body----------The body/paint on this truck is outstanding. Painting a 70 year old truck black is ambitious (i've not seen another Diamond T in black) and this one is as stunning in person as in the photos. The panels are amazingly straight w/ excellent fitment. The trim, striping, and details are excellent. door, windows (door and windshield) function perfectly. wood bed is very nice, but has some undulating boards.
Drivetrain------------The truck has a GM 350 crate motor w/ overdrive Automatic trans. Not sure of exact specs, but has aluminum intake and Holley carb. I would conservatively estimate 250-275 hp... more than competent to move this truck in modern traffic. the 4 spd auto trans (w/ lokar shifter) functions as it should. Original manual brakes and steering perform as well as Diamond T intended- I have driven the truck in city traffic w/ no worries. Also has ice cold air conditioning. Underside of truck just as nice as the body.
Interior----------Tasteful custom interior. Grey two/tone vinyl seat and door panels w/ diamond stitching and gold embroidered Diamond T logo. Carpeting and floor mats. beautiful dash w/ original gauges. Hidden bluetooth stereo w/ amp and subwoofer.
There are a few minor (very minor) things that i am are of-1. slight exhaust leak at driver side manifold/collector. I will see if i can remedy this before the end of auction.2. fuel gauge and temp gauge work intermittently. Probably a ground issue.3. custom battery box in bed needs new bottom. The box is fine, but they used chipboard for the inside, and it has sagged.
Overall, this is an outstanding, one of a kind example of a Diamond T pickup.. It is stunning in person, and commands more attention than anything on the road- really! As with any major purchase, especially that of a 70 year old vehicle, i would prefer that any serious potential buyer view the truck in person. I know this isn't realistic for everyone, but please contact me if you have legitimate interest... I will do my best to answer questions, but please respect that my time is as important as yours. The pictures are accurate, and i consider my assessment very knowledgeable and forthcoming, but at the end of the day, it is my opinion and you may see differently- that's why i urge you to come see it, if possible. I will work with any shipping arrangements that you make, as long as vehicle is paid in full prior. Thanks!
