Up for auction is my gorgeous, fully restored, 1960 Vespa 400. Vespa 400's are very hard to find, and are usually rusty beyond repair. This car was rust free, which is extremely rare. The floor pans are the first to go on these cars, but on this car the floor is 100% factory and intact, same goes for the rest of the body. There isn't one patch panel on the entire car. The restoration took a long time and was very thorough. The car was completely taken apart down to the shell, and was restored from the ground up. I have pictures throughout the entire restoration process. Because of internal issues, the factory engines on these cars usually break down at around 1,500 miles, as was the case with this one. I shipped the engine to Larry at Microcarlot (Vespa 400 guru and great guy) and he beautifully rebuilt the engine with all new upgraded internals! He also rebuilt carb, generator, clutch, and sent new taillight lenses, new turn signal lenses, new tires, and a new rag top. All of the weatherstripping, window seals, and gaskets were all from Mrfiat.com. It cost a small fortune, but was well worth it. Absolutely everything has been restored, bumpers re chromed, brakes all rebuilt, wheels powder coated, interior all re-upholstered, gauge cluster was taken apart everything fixed and repainted, all wiring gone through, all cables fixed, all new insulation in engine bay, gas tank re seal etc. The car had a gorgeous paint job done, it was painted inside, and out, with a high quality base clear. The doors open and close like new, and it truly drives like new, or better! I drove it around 1,500 trouble free miles this summer, and the attention is brings is unbelievable! In one of the pictures you can see some Vespa parts; those are extremely rare grill and engine covers! These are not restored, but I will included them with the car. Ive been offered a pretty penny for these as they are impossible to find. If anyone has any questions please message me and I'll respond asap! Thanks for looking! On Nov-21-16 at 19:16:07 PST, seller added the following information:
I also forgot to mention that this was a 1 owner car before I bought it. The car was purchased new in Washington. When the engine blew up in 1964 they put it in dry storage and it sat there ever since. I have pictures of the car the day I bought it! I have the original license plates and registration!
