1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Custom Convertible
Featured in Chevy Power Magazine Period-correct 283ci V8, blueprinted and built Chevrolet small block engine Doug Nash 4-speed manual transmission Four-link racing rear suspension Originally built by the Rosebush BrothersMotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present yet another beautiful classic Chevrolet, a 1965 Chevelle custom convertible that was built as a loving tribute by the legendary Rosebush brothers! It was a recent recipient of a meticulous nut & bolt restoration and is a show worthy investment . It is completely street legal with title in hand and can be driven to the track if you please. Finished in it’s correct white and multi stripe livery paint job, shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Inside, the white with graphic interior mirrors the exterior to continue the theme.
The car offered here is a study representative of performance capability. It’s a 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible that was originally built as a father son project by the Rosebush Brothers, of Bay City, Michigan. It is powered by a built up, high horsepower version of the venerable 283 cid Chevrolet small block engine. In the NHRA, your class is determined by dividing the vehicle’s original shipping weight by its original advertised horsepower. Thus, a convertible like this would run a lower class than its comparable hardtop version while still using the same engine. This is advantageous and often results in unlikely body styles competing on the drag strip.
The original Rosebush race car it’s based on, first competed in Super Stock Eliminator, a step up from the entry level Stock Eliminator. In its day it was a very competitive race car, competing in NHRA National Events and setting numerous records, including a National Class Record in SS/P of 11.98 seconds at 110.42 mph at the Tri City Dragway in July 1975. It also was the recipient of an International Drag Racing Record of 7.38 seconds in the 1/8 mile SS/4M, certified by the IHRA in March 1978 at Green Valley Dragway.
This car is equipped with a period correct blueprinted, built up 283cid SBC engine, Doug Nash 4-speed manual transmission, four-link racing rear suspension, fuel pressure gauge and horn are inoperable
This vehicle is ideal for several uses, including showing or participating in the Nostalgia racing events that are so popular today, as well as street “cruising.” Unlike later Super Stock cars, which were permitted much more extensive modifications, the car was built in a time when modifications were much more limited and thus it is much truer to the way that Chevrolet originally manufactured it and is now ready to be an excellent addition to anyone’s collection and further ready to make its way back to the track.
These types of Chevelles are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
Current mileage on the odometer 5,769, it is sold as is and is mileage exempt. The car is being sold on a clean & clear title.
